Glad to hear your honesty. The reason I, and probably many others, watch your channel is because you are not whiny and “click-baity”. You make beautiful videos and your content is informative and inspiring. Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures on both channels.

Jason, I’m subscribed to both channels and enjoy exactly what you’re creating for both. And for the record, the end result is exactly as you mentioned. Quality videos of a great, outdoor experience. Thanks for doing all you do and sharing your experiences out in nature as well as the info you share

I am going through something similar but stuck in a 40hr work week. I can't escape due to a kid in college and responsibilities. However, your comment about your displeasure w content creators and the negative direction upset you. Just stay true to you and ignore the distraction of others. Your obviously successful and liked due to YOU. Don't lose sight of that. Love your content and don't change but to satisfy you and we will follow!

Thanks for staying with your videos. I appreciate both your channels and the content you provide. Too many outdoor/camping/overlanding channels have moved to a point where the activities/lifestyle seems so out of touch and not realistic. My own ability to camp and explore aligns much more with your style and so I feel a greater affinity with your channels and content.

It’s hard to believe I’ve been watching your videos since 2018 or so, and you’re still going strong. I totally get the burnout thing. A lot of time and effort goes into making these videos that is lost on the viewer. Thank you for sharing your story and your adventures. These videos/short films offer me a sort of escape from the daily grind, longing for the next chance I get to be outside.

As a retired Army veteran I greatly appreciate your content on both channels Jason so much. I've been with you for yrs now, watching Daisy & Wheeler, grown old & the joy thru brought you. Your content brings a lot of peace, calm, and tranquility to me on a daily basis even when I re-watch your old episodes, as a disabled veteran with mental health issues it brings a lot of encouragement to me and I love being out in nature myself which is another reason why I went full in to my own KZbin channel as well for outdoor adventures & travels with my family. I can definitely understand what you were going through with take giving social media a break detox, sometimes it's necessary to reorient ourselves in the right direction where we need to be, absolutely nothing wrong with that and it's good that you recognize that and it took a step back. I know that I look forward to all your content this new year, happy New Year brother! 🤙

That's why I love your channel, Jason, you're wise and honnest with yourslef. Same to me, I try my best when I shoot my overlanding stuffs for my YT channel and the great & touching feedbacks encourage me to continue. The most important is to feel connected with who we are and do what we love. We feel that through your videos. Glad you want to keep your channel and get motivated. Yes it's takes time & energy to shoot oursleves and then edit the video, but I Know you're able to find a great balance between those shooting time and moments just for you.

I'm glad you are staying with content creation; I understand the frustrations of social media, since I do it full time. IG can be a place where you don't have as many loyal followers, it can feel like you're always having to post to stay relevant etc. Starting on KZbin the last few months has been a more creative outlet for me. The hard part is some of the negative feedback or feeling judged when you're vulnerable. It's so easy to focus on the one negative comment, instead of hearing the 100 positive ones. I keep reminding myself of the "why" I started it all to begin with and keep my focus on doing it for me. Even if my income depends on content creation, I still want to make it a space where I'm growing, learning and developing my skills. And that I keep it a place of peace, exploring nature and staying true to myself. Keep it up and remember your "why." :) Beth

Jason is one of those guys who is just a good person with no ego or flashy pretensions. And I will forever associate him with his dog, Daisy, who wandered off to die with the seeming intention of saving her owner the grief of seeing her dead body. I think about that every time I see a new video by Jason. And I wonder why Jason has not gone out and obtained a new dog because he doesn’t want to go through again that sadness of losing a dog-in some folks that is an almost crippling sadness.

It is not an exaggeration that many of us live vicareously through you and your camera lense. You were missed this summer and I'm so glad that you are back. Man can I relate to the last 1/3rd of this vid. I also own/operate a small biz. And burnout is real! I have found myself at the point a couple times now where the only thing that keeps me going is the fact that I know there is no way, now that I have been self employed for so long, that I could work for someone else. It can be a challenge to reinvigorate yourself. Anyway, I enjoy the content. Thanks for sharing!

Good morning from Ohio. I can understand how you feel about all of the click bait out there. Your channels are nothing like those and that is why I subscribe. I’m just getting started on KZbin and Instagram at 52 years old while working a 40 hours (or more) a week job. I’m still fumbling through trying to make quality cohesive content like yours - learning how to capture and edit. You talked about only watching informative and inspirational videos in 2025. Well, that is exactly why I watch you channels. Please keep inspiring!

I'm with you on all fronts. I'm 10 years older than you and I feel the tide has changed in a NOT good way. Wasting so much time on FB and others. I've deleted everything else. And I'm setting limits on FB use time. So much time wasted, I'll keep face book but for only the family and friends connections. I'm looking at you tube for the learning and music aspect only. NO more shorts, time wasted that should have been for projects and builds. May 2025 be a GIFT that keeps us focused for the whole year. Cheers.

Having to filter through so much social media content to finally find that which inspires speaks volumes to the direction society has taken. Mental health professionals have identified that social media is having a negative impact on people. States are moving forward with legislation that restricts access to social media for certain age groups. Common sense dictates that what is inspiring to one is not necessarily true for another. But on the larger scale social media has become a net negative for society. And along with this negativity comes depression, stress, etc. What I’m saying, Jason, is what you felt in 2024 was imminent. That’s not saying you were a negative part of the social media scene, which I believe a majority of your viewers will agree with. That you recognized the source of your depression, and discontent with social media in general, will be a tremendous boost to your efforts to continue creating content which inspires others. Your past struggles should bring clarity as you move into 2025, particularly since you have identified the source of your frustration and are making a cognitive effort to remedy it. Best of everything as we all move forward into 2025 together.

If you don't mind I have a few thoughts... just my view from the cheap seats. Yours was my first favorite YT "outdoors" channel. Much of what I do is inspired by you (not that my channel is anything in comparison) I completely understood your thinking when you started your Van Camping channel, your ideology was sound, but I worried about burnout... Ive seen a bit of struggle in your managing the overlap, which I can only imagine how difficult it must be to avoid. As I said, your ideology is sound, you just have to figure out the methodology... and it seems like you're aware of what you need to do. I'm excited to see how that works... because I love the idea of one channel being cinematically beautiful and the other being informative. I think the term "influencer" is not a title that you give yourself rather its a title that is given to you by your audience because you've earned it. You are a natural teacher... you willingly and so graciously share your knowledge. On top of this. You have a massive following.... whether you like the word or not... it IS what you are... your knowledge and your opinions are meaningful. What I think you are struggling with, is not the idea of being an influencer, rather... its the idea of being a "sellout". Believe me... as an average consumer of Overland/outdoor content, I've never gotten the feeling that you sell out. No one likes ad content, Ive never gotten the impression that you have ever endorsed a product that you don't completely believe in. People who take on the task of being a content creator for a living... have to pay the bills somehow...personally I think you've found a terrific balance of minimizing the impact of advertising in your revenue stream in a way where your viewers feel it..... that has to be a massive challenge. If you can't work a traditional job then this IS your job.... you'll need to make some tough choices about how to best take care of YOU. KZbin is designed to reward those who post weekly content no matter how good the content is..... if you miss that window, your traffic numbers will suffer... and that then affects you financially. If you need a break.... id recommend getting a couple videos either edited, or ready to edit so you can skip a couple of weeks then load quality content for several weeks in a row. That way the first video might take a hit, but your follow up content will make up for it? Its a lot to manage I can only imagine... make sure you make some time for you

Happy New Year Jason. Appreciate your acknowledgement of life's struggles...I think everyone goes thru times like these. Living in a van can afford a person too much time to think of stuff that can depress. I think your photography is first rate and your drone work is well done . I'm glad you're back in the game...keep a positive attitude and keep those great camping vids coming. As an aside...your wildlife photos could be a line income, they're that good...just sayin. Take care man.

You have very advanced metal working skills. I'd like to see more videos in detail about the software and hardware you use to design and cut the metal for your various projects - as they pertain to vanlifing. As an E series owner, I'm always looking for that type of content and the few videos you've shown of your work in this area are some of your best (yes!). So many vanlife channels concentrate on pimped out newish Sprinter, Transit and Promaster builds which are more expensive and largely out of reach for many aspiring vanlifers. The E series are the poor man's van and there is a real shortage of detailed content on these types of builds (and how many E series are still on the road? ALOT). Vancity vanlife just switched over to a new Sprinter, so his E series content will be dropping off. A good opening for you, I think. Same goes for the 6 speed transmission and the unique transfer case (both of which I didn't even know about). Also, it would be cool to learn more about the Holley tuning system in terms of how it works, how it's been working, and I'm very curious about the fuel economy before and after those mods. And reliability now that you've been using it for a good while. Otherwise on a more personal level, at your age now you should get a CAC test ASAP. Establish your calcium baseline score now. Based on your age and diet it is statistically very likely you have at least some plaque in your coronary arteries. CAC tests are inexpensive, around $100-$200 and sometimes insurance pays for them, but if not the out of pocket is definitely worth it. You want to know where you stand on plaque now, not later. There are things that can be done to slow or stop its progress including statins. But for now, do yourself a favor and get the CAC. It's totally painless, non-invasive (other than modest X ray radiation) and very quick in and out in 15 minutes. Good luck.

Your channel has always been a true fan favorite for outdoors leaning adventurist, so my question is this....? If you're struggling with content creation, why don't you start traveling like Chris did from Venture 4wd did. I think your talent with content creation would be really inviting in exciting new places. It has to be incredibly hard creating content based on the same things and locations day in day out. As a long time watcher I can see the hardships in your delivery and production in 24' but I believe a new vision outside of your local area could really add fuel to your fire for inspiration. Just a thought, continue to stay strong and power through.
