@@HoboraMax She won the Best Supporting Performance at Berlin (one of the major festival trifecta along with Cannes and Venice), she's well overdue, it's an insanely baity villain role, and Cillian Murphy has a lot of heat on him from his Best Actor win that I think some of that afterglow will carry this film. Assuming GLADIATOR 2 does really well at both awards and box office, this could be the year that Denzel Washington finally makes the BAFTA nominees list. I really don't think Ellis-Taylor is happening. She doesn't have enough screentime or industry connections (because it's harder for women of color, also why Deadwyler may be snubbed). I've been anticipating Gomez getting snubbed, but if her films wins SAG ensemble, I find it hard to see. Also, GG's have no reason to leave her out of 6 if Emilia Perez will be more embraced by international voting bodies. I also think Culkin is being overestimated, especially for a win. He won't. His type of performance only gets a win for being overdue and he really hasn't had that much outside of Succession. I think the points you made for him actually help Jeremy Strong more, especially after his broadway win. I do think, Clarence Maclin will just end up with the Oscar at the end of the day though

I know yall said at the beginning of the year that Challengers was too “young people bisexual” to be nominated, but with Queer- essentially- leaving the race voters might go back to Challengers to vote for. I put Josh O’Connor back in my supporting actor top 5. He left for a good two months, but he’s back. I don’t think his performance is something too far fetched for the academy to nominate either; he plays a slightly comedic, cocky, charismatic little slut. Mark Ruffalo in Poor Things, Thomas Haden Church in Sideways, Clive Owen in Closer, Tom Cruise in Magnolia, Brad Pitt in OUATIH all cross off at least two of those and all were supporting. (Some of them Won or were kinda close to winning too) I don’t think Supporting Actor would be Challengers’ lone nomination either. It could get OG Screenplay, Editing, and Score pretty easily I think. Other films with similar packages are Trial of the Chicago 7, Bridge of Spies, Far From Heaven, and Don’t Look Up. Yes all of the ones I listed were in picture, but please stop writing off challengers. I don’t think it’s **dead**. its still one of the most acclaimed films this year

I feel like Dune Two is getting roundly slept on in these vids. I know Pt. 1 didn't get any acting nominations but Pt. 2 is universally seen as a marked improvement and even though it came out early it's by far one of the most successful films of the year and not a lot has topped it. I could see the academy showing lots of love to it for these reason, whether that's with an acting nomination for someone like Bardem or not idk, but I have a feeling its going to bounce back big

Selena Gomez will be snubbed just like JLo for Hustlers, for the exact same reasons.
@dahomey20016 күн бұрын
Jlo was snubbed because she would be the lone nominee of her movie, her movie wasn’t strong, played a stripper, the movie distributor was relatively new, and the competition was much stronger Not mentioning Jlo was releasing music, going on a tour and performing at the superbowl during march, basically being a full time musician. Selena is not doing all of that, and her film distributor is not bleecker street

@@joecoe4416 I pointed out that example for jlo only kathy bates is freaking Kathy Bates, of course she can make it as a sole nominee for her movie if she has the performance, jlo would never Not mentioning her movie Richard Jewell was named top 10 best films of the year by AFI and The National Board of review , meanwhile supporting actress was the only nominations hustlers got during awards season Not much acclaimed considered Kathy bates made the bafta shortlist and jlo didn't, meaning there was international support for Kathy from many foreign voters

I like these guys, but the whole premise of this show is weird. No one really cares about the Oscars anymore; do these guys know that? More importantly, everyone knows that Oscar wins are unrelated to artistic merit. That's why films and directors of historical importance (and recognized as such) are often unmentioned at the Oscars. You can still treat the Oscars as a bit of fun, of course. But these guys seem to really care about "who will win," the horse race, much more than they care about the merits of each movie. That's weird because it doesn't matter who wins; it matters what's good.
