I wonder I Musk is going to find waste in the EV credits?
@drwho543723 сағат бұрын
Of course he will. He's the only company that doesn't need them. Turns out if you want a reliable electric vehicle, you buy a Tesla. Other car manufacturers are seeing that as we speak.

Is the Buffet Ratio still that relevant as winner stocks are becoming larger and larger part of economy, counting so even if the valuation stayed averagish?

Insurance hasn't gone up because of Hurricanes!! Its gone up because of higher labor and materials costs. Rates didn't go thru the roof after Katrina or Hugo or Andrew. The rates have only started skyrocketing since Covid. Over priced houses will have to pay overpriced insurance. Its that simple.

Good discussion Ed and Eric. I agree there is inflation risk ahead. Why did Trump win if inflation was such a risk? None of his policies are anti-inflation. DOGE will create chaos! I agree with Powell that there should be 2-3 rate cuts. If it was left to the market to decide rates, I think they would be higher based on the 2&10 year rate action. Tarot ffs are inflationary. Trump seems not understand them! Trump immigration policies will be very upsetting to the country. They are already talking about deporting families-not just criminals.

I wish Dr Ed would refrain from being so obviously pro-Trump/pro-Musk. He's been in 7th heaven ever since the election. If I were American there's a high probability I would vote that way too, but I try to keep my stock market news stream as unpolitical and objective as possible. 🤔 It will be an interesting year, when expectations meet reality.

I agree with your comment. Yardeni and most market pundits are pro-Trump for 2 reasons: 1) Tax cuts. 2) Regulation cuts. No one, not 1%, discusses the economic impact of deporting millions of essential low-pay hourly workers in agriculture, home building, hotels, etc., etc. Secondly, Trump's consistent campaign promises for Smoot-Hawley-type tariffs are either ignored or discounted as "negotiating tactics" by Yardeni and Co. It will be interesting to see how their narrative changes when the yield on the 10-year UST climbs above 5% due to the significant increase in inflation resulting from Trump's policies and the national debt continues on its current trajectory.

The year end targets from YR are the most valuable, relatively inexpensive thing, an amateur investor can get online from any kind of analyst out there that is available.

@@YardeniResearch Sir, I am sure you are, and have been, equal handed in your review of differing administrations. I have admired your work dating to your earliest Rukeyser appearances. My reply was touched regarding border and immigration comments that do not highlight an inherently politicized, unsolved issue by both sides. Human lives whether the impoverished on one side or another are worth considering. I hope as investors we all consider the real moral quandary of analysis of investment opportunities apart from the social good. Doing so might might make our caviar go down more smoothly.

Are you kidding me? A financial services insider like Ed Yardeni has an issue with the SF Fed doing climate change work? Have you seen how the property insurance has changed thanks to hurricanes etc? Wouldn't you want a thoughtful long term solution for the insurance industry that has seen reinsurers and most insurers exit markets like Florida? Adam Smith called himself a moral philosopher. Before math geeks took over, Economics was the Political Economy. The politicians in the country barely get one thing right in a thousand... Let the economists at the Fed do their thing. It's no different from the basic research at the NIH that makes the pharma companies rich at the expense of the people.

What's morality have to do with economics or making money. Homelessness up 19% last year (no economic footprint metrics here). No way to make money on that.
