Warning I tend to write very long comments! I really enjoyed your video! There's a lot of talk about the different brands and I've seen a few discussions about SI and HB specifically. Those who use several planners could choose to use both, but I'm like you in that I need one planner to work. Anything else would be a supplement to the main system. I just watched like a 2 hour video from Hobonichi about their 2025 release and the collabs are spot on, like these are beautiful planner styles. They've built their culture and this is something a lot of people look forward to. I saw some collabs that I absolutely adore. There's a lot of quirky and cute, like this is a top notch release! However for myself, I felt a bit on the outside because I do not use those sizes. I would have to spend extra money I wasn't counting on spending on a planner or notebook in those sizes in order to participate in the HB release. I would then have to find a purpose for this purchase. Despite all of the wonderful releases and collabs with whimsical Japanese artists, heavy hitters like Nintendo and Shonen Jump, classics like Paddington Bear, and global fashion houses,...at the end of the day...we are talking about 3 planners and some notebooks. When I think about the flexibility and options available to me to plan in a book that adapts to _my_ needs vs. the other way 'round I can't help but feel even more thankful for Sterling Ink planners. While not a quirky, her style has a classic look. If you click on a planner video and see those golden edges, you know what you're looking at. It's almost synonymous with her brand. I will be getting a TN size SI planner and there was never really a question about that. It was more like, _theoretically_ who would be in second or third place AFTER. It will remain a theory because although HB has a class A release, the planners do not work for me in my current season of life. I kind of feel bad talking about the color selections of SI because the colors offered are very timeless in nature. And in general I would be satisfied with most of them. My top 3 colors from her are the mulberry, mist and tweed. Fortunately, she offers all colors in my favorite size and layout. The only the mulberry is exclusively offered in the full year version. I've gone back and forth on what I could do with all the extra pages and I've come to the conclusion that, like you I will get what works for me. I have a few mist notebooks and booklets from last year, so I will most likely go with the tweed compact. A new color and again timeless. You mentioned you don't need a whole media planner and use daily to-dos in and sprinkled throughout the planner? Maybe a SI monthly booklet would help? Or the very last section of blank dailies in a full year set aside for media planning? I'm not sure. Anyways, I'll shut up now! Again, great video. Subscribed!

Thank you so much for subscribing and for leaving a comment - the longer the better :) I think if I was to get anything from Hobonichi this year, it would be a cover because I really do like Sterling Ink for my planner. I'm intrigued about the TN size from SI though I'm not going to lie. But at the end of the day if something works, why change it? I've tried the monthly booklets for my social media BUT I haven't tried using a section of the dailies. I love that idea! I'm going to try it and see if that works for me. Thank you for the suggestion!

I have my heart set on the Mulberry A5 Horizontal Common Planner. That's my dream planner as far as size and layout, and the purple is so pretty! I'm using the N1 this year because it was the biggest horizontal planner I could get, so I'm looking forward to having a little more elbow room in the planner lol

I love the mulberry colour. I think it is going to be a huge hit for SI. I'm so used to the vertical week for planning but I do love my horizontal N2 for my reading journal. Just enough space! Thank you for watching!

I truly love Sterling Ink! I’m pretty much set on another B6-V full year for 2025. It would be my 3rd year in it, and it’s worked pretty well as my catch all/journal. So as you kind of implied with your thought process: if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it. 🤭 Have you thought of maybe using a booklet for your social media? It should be slim enough that you can add it to your planner. Not sure if that helps you or makes your decisions harder but just putting it out there.

Yes, ain't broke, don't fix for sure. I have used a booklet and I think it does work - kinda. I think if I tweaked with it a bit I might make it work. Sterling Ink has been perfect for me too. Love them! Thanks for the suggestion and for watching!

Just my opinion.... I would rather have more than I need (space - in terms of A5 vs B6) than not have the space I need.... I have both and just use my B6 to be creative and have fun since I didn't want to waste it but I'll forever be an A5 girl.

Thanks so much for this thoughtful video. I have been struggling with what to do for 2025.. having used a SI weeks last year, and also half using an a SI A6 as well. But, after watching this, I really got to thinking about what I have enjoyed in the past few years, having used pretty much ALL the sizes. I thought of every detail, how it looks, how it feels, space, transportability, writability, etc etc.. and your separate weeks planner for reading really made a bell go off. I thought about each planner, and what was it that brought me organization, but mostly JOY. And it cleared it all up for me. I am going to get an A6 size monthly notebook to carry with me for scheduling and an A5 vertical full for weekly planning, daily memory keeping, creative space and happy thoughts. I LOVE the A5 size for the floppy factor, but it is WAY too heavy to daily carry. I am so happy with this for next year. Now just to pick the color of the A5. I have a beautiful embroidered cover from Etsy that I can't wait to use again. So much more I could share but this is long enough! Thanks again! New subscriber.

Thank you so much Janet! I am so happy some of my video helped you figure out what to do next year. I'm glad that you mentioned JOY because at the end of the day if you don't love being in your planners they will not work for you. I absolutely love mine and I want everyone to find ones that they love as well. I'm going Tweed for my A5...I think :)

Stay in an A5 for 2025 to use up kits and sort of go on a no buy. Then the following year you can do B6 and with money saved from not buying kits in 25, you get to buy a cover for B6! I was in the B6 in 23, but so glad to be back in A5 this year. But I still feel the pull from the B6. Also I very much am the same as you as a all-in-one planner person. I’ve tried to do additional planners and have failed with it. But I did just get a A6 notebook from SI that I want to use purely for brain dump purposes so I can keep my A5 a little more organized.

Hi Stephanie, I am in the Sterling Ink TN Light blue. I love the planner, size and paper. Weeks too small and cousin too big. Looking forward to ordering another TN Planner Mullberry or Onyx for 2025. Don’t love the stickers and cover size hold you back from being in your perfect size. I think the A5 and weeks are your happy place. For me I just need one Planner Used for some work notes but 90percent personal. ❤. Enjoy watching all the planner videos by you and the planner world. 💕🤓

The Sterling Ink is my favorite planner I’ve ever had. I have the A5 Academic Year 24-25 Common Planner that I just started in July and I keep it in a Moterm cover. Every now and then I get “itchy” and start looking at other planners, but none of them are as portable with the perfect number of pages and space for plans and journaling. This academic one is the third common planner I’ve had. I’m hoping she releases a Mulberry colored academic planner next year but if not, I keep my planner in a cover all the time so it’s not the end of the world. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I’m going with an A6 techo and an A5 Hon, same as last year.. I will add a little A6 notebook to the mix as well.. super happy with the Hobonichi life 🥳 the Japanese aesthetic is very intuitive for me. I use the Japanese version in both. I am self employed and my schedule varies.. i use my planner for haiku writing and some journaling as well. Cheers!

Tried Hobonichi Cousin this year (english). After seeing the selection with Sterling Ink though I will be definitely picking up the A5 Common Planner in Mist for 2025. I am also considering picking up a Passport or N1 or N2 size for health tracking. I'm still deciding. Really like Sterling Ink for the cleaner look (no colour) and the fact that it has blank pages rather than dated pages. Sometimes I have hardly anything to say and sometimes I have more than one page due to adding quotes etc that particularly day. I saw one person who used a date stamp to date the entries in the blank pages which is something I'm considering doing. For your special planner I like the idea of doing various quotes or another themed like idea for that planner. I too like the cover and if I had one I would like to keep it for reference type rather than just a daily planner.
@stephanieplansandreads
@stephanieplansandreads 8 күн бұрын
That's why I like the undated pages in SI too. Some days I have more to write and then there are days when I don't write at all! Date stamps are great and there are also lots of sticker companies that do date stickers. Plus you can always write them in. I agree about the A6 Hobonichi. It's too special for random notes or lists. Thanks for commenting!

Ooh I clicked because I have the cats hon in a5 and it’s been a struggle to use so I wanted to see what other people felt about it 😂 to me I wasn’t sure if it was the dull color or the heaviness/size of the book that made me not want to use it but I’m deep into sterling ink this year

❤ Glad to have found your page and I am your number 500 subscriber! I love your thought process. I have been between SI and HB but this year I am leaning to the N2 Full Year in either caramel or mist (I have had notebooks from SI in those and the covers are soooo soft). My main book will be the A5 and still debating the color. But thinking that I will go with the softness choices. I have used the onyx in the past as well and the cover is not the nicest texture for me. I love all of SI’s products though so it is hard to choose! I love the idea of using your leftover HON for daily quotes. That would be pretty in that size book.

Yay, 500! Thank you so much Holly!! Sounds like we are thinking along the same lines. Both the caramel and the mist felt very smooth this year but I'm going to try some of the new colours. I do put a clear cover on them anyway. I think I will go ahead with the quotes thing. It helps practice my handlettering as well so it could be a good idea. Thanks for the comment and for being #500!

I, too, have a separate reading journal (I use a full year N1) and I bought a second one for 2025 when she had the left overs on sale. However, I wish I waited because I think (ideally) all I needed was a monthly booklet and a companion regular TN notebook so that's my plan for 2026.

A few people mentioned the sticker kit is sure to me. They were saying how most sticker shops sell A5 or the Weeks size, not B6 or the CP weeks size and that can be a bit of a pain in the butt. I don't think that the cover should be the #1 reason why you choose a planner.

Same here! I’m a one book vertical week girl😂 I was debating between A5 & B6. In the end I think I am going for a full year B6 and A5 Booklet to satisfy my sticker kits collection hobby:) I have plenty of A5 & B6 blank notebooks for notes. I too want the tweed cover, so I figured I’d just find a picture of tweed, print it on sticker paper and stick it on the B6 cover. I use clear cover anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ I have four 2024 unused planners. Plus the more planners I have the more confused and unproductive I feel, not to mention redundancy. Not doing that this year. I rather buy more stickers with extra cash 😂😂 Have fun planning!😊

So I am a multi-planner user but my todo list is combined onto a daily page (Happen to be in the Erin Condren Daily Duo right now). So like all my main youtube to dos go onto my daily page, but the hashed out details and steps and planning out the month of content all goes in a separate planner. The do to list page is opened everyday, but the smaller youtube planner only comes out when I am working on video things. But my daily page will say "film Wednesday video" or "edit Wednesday video" etc. That keeps me referring to the smaller planner as needed and I don't forget to do what I need. I hope that makes sense. It sounds like you are wanting it separated so maybe that method can help you hash out your process a bit more.

I’m going bigger in 2025 and getting the sterling ink B5. I’ve bought from them for years with stickers and vellum. I’ve been buying hobos for years before 2016 I’m burned out this year and only working in outlook for work and I hate that too. I need a digital planner that could pull all my color code categories to show what I did for the year in summary. If I could export it to an excel doc it would be perfect. Nothing does that. My job shifts and changes enough I need to show people what I do every month. Maybe the rest of the year I’ll try again. . So bigger is better for 2025 hopefully 😂

Personally, I am so sick of A5 planners because I've been planning/journaling for almost 10 years now in that size. I'll be ordering new sizes from Sterling Ink only this year because I believe her designs cured me of the FOMO I had over Hobonichi planners. Her planners are absolutely perfect for me without all the extra stuff. I wish all her planners had 24 hours, so I can't use sizes like B6 because it doesn't have extra space on the bottom for me to add extra hours when needed. I'll be ordering B5 Vertical, A6 vertical, N1 horizontal, and N2 horizontal. The N2/N1 will be compact for sure, but I can't decide if I want compact or full for the B5 and A6 sizes. With my system this year, I'll be using supplemental notebooks/journals with my planners. I decided to do that because I found myself stressing if I will be able to fit all the information I need in my planners.

I'm an enabler so I say yes to all the planners! Sometimes people just need to compartmentalize their lives into many planners and there is nothing wrong with that. This year I used a Hobonichi A6 but I found it was too small for me as I do long form daily journaling more than planning, I thought the cousin would be perfect for me but honestly I don’t know if I’ll use the weekly’s at all and the grid is too small for my handwriting anyways. So I actually think I may use the Leuchturm Daily planner in A5 for 2025. I don’t see people talking about it a lot. Additionally I’m going to get some sort of 5 year journal. Probably Hobonichi

I don't see the Leuchturm A5 mentioned a lot, that's true. I think TRP is so popular at the moment so maybe that is why? You have to get what works for you otherwise you won't use it. A6 is cute but I don't think I could do much in that size. Thanks for the comment!

This year I tried the A6 HON English version for an edc, and while it worked well enough I did not find the quotations added enough value, even translated, to offset the real estate they occupied. I also bought a 2024 Cousin mid-year to see whether I could get back in the habit of daily journaling. Ditto with the quotes -- I'd rather have a few more lines to work with. Then I discovered Sterling Ink, through a YT video from Rachelle in Theory, titled, "Did @SterlingInk fix the Hobonichi Cousin?" To cut to the chase, I am planning to buy an N2 Horizontal Compact SI in tweed (which for me seems to fix the Hobo Weeks) as my edc and an A5 Daily Planner full size also in tweed to use for journaling. I'll do my habit tracking in the Quarterly spreads in the N2. Likewise, lists and notes etc can go in the back, blank pages of the N2. I tried the Weeks several years ago and like you, I found it cramped for the way I was trying to use it. I ditched it for the Day-Free A6 for a couple of years, then the HON. I also objected to the cream paper, the lack of a grid on the left-hand pages, and the space taken over by quotations I couldn't read.

Sounds like we are on the same wavelength! I also watched that Rachelle in Theory video and I really think, for me, SI did 'fix' the Cousin. I have found my happy place in their planners definitely. I like your system of N2 for planning and A5 for journaling. I sometimes think I'd like to plan in the N2 and then I look at my A5 and think 'I can never leave you' LOL Thank you so much for your comment!

@@stephanieplansandreads I used to try to keep a Bullet Journal in an A5 but the weight got to me! However, A5 is definitely my choice for a stay-at-home journal, and the fact that the Daily Planners have only page numbers and no dates on the notebook pages -- perfect for me.

Have you tried Apple/Google Calendar and reminders/Do List?

This seems to work for so many people but it just doesn't for me. I much prefer writing things down. I like paper, pens etc. I did use an outlook calendar at work but I always wrote the stuff in the calendar in my planner anyway! Thank you for watching!

Where do you buy the clear covers?

The A5 clear cover is the Midori one and the weeks size is a Hobonichi weeks cover. I got both of them from Amazon :) Thanks for watching!

I got an Erin Condren in July for my social media and absolutely hate it. It’s massive and it basically has no pages in it. I’ve been spoiled by the tomoe river paper. I think I’m going back to a common planner but A5 horizontal for my business planner and then I’m going to try the daily dated one as my everyday to do list and do something similar to Katherine where I track how I’m spending my time down the side. I wanted to get something to use for our family budget and was considering a weeks but I have no idea what I’m doing there if I’m honest. I’m wondering if I could make one of the booklets work instead think 🤔

The EC planners are a whole different vibe I think and I'm in my TRP era lol. I think the booklets would be perfect for a budget planner because you probably don't need so many notes pages. I confess I have been thinking about the daily as well. I just think it's so pretty. Thank you for commenting on the video!

I think I’m switching from the Hobonichi Cousin to Sterling Ink A5 - the dated dailies in the Cousin simply do not work for me. Debating if I should get the N2H in Fairy Floss because I love that colour, but I’m also eyeing the Paddington weeks. Though I’m not sure if I need a weeks sized planner. Thinking of getting a passport for therapy notes, though not sure if I should get a notebook or a planner

I agree about the dated dailies. I like the freedom of using the pages how I want and not having to stick to the page per day. I got the cat weeks last year because I loved the cover but I knew I wasn't going to be happy in the weeks. I should have just stayed with SI. I just like it better. #teamfairyfloss lol A passport or pocket would be great for therapy notes I think. Thank you so much for the comment!

What I really want is an A6 Cousin. I know they have an a6 weekly supplement. I would like it to be literally, an A6 cousin.

Does the SI A6 not work for you? Maybe you want dated dailies? Thank you for the comment!

@@stephanieplansandreads I purchased the second half from Sterling Ink. I am having an awful time so far. It doesn’t lay flat like the hobonichi. I will stick with it to give it my best shot. I do love the mist cover. But that isn’t available in a6 for 2025. I just love the cousin. But it’s much too big. I love a6.

Oh that sucks it doesn't lay flat. I wonder if it's because it is only half year? I don't have a full year A6 from SI but if anyone else does maybe they could comment?

How do you typically plan for your social media? You probably could fit it all into the a5, but it’s hard to say since at least in this video, it wasn’t super clear on HOW you plan for social media/what your needs are?

This is such a good point! I think this is the root of my problem. I'm just learning about how I might want to plan for social media and what my needs are. I think for September, I'm going to try using my booklet for all the planning (notes, scripts, ideas, scheduling) but the actual to dos will go in my daily pages. I'll try it anyway. Thank you for this comment though because it pointed out the fact that I don't know exactly how I want to plan SM. The crux of the issue perhaps.

@@stephanieplansandreads Likely lol! I manage both my stationary media but also the media for my business (with 5 different outlets) - so knowing HOW you're planning and what the process is will help. I'm a paperplanner girly, obvi, so I use Airtable to house all the assets and files but I make a monthly 'checklist' in my planner for everything I need to create and the different steps to creating it so I have it at a glance.
