Always wanted a WRX.. Finally in a position to buy one but chose the R instead with the 6MT.. I don't like these new WRX, they just don't appeal to me at all anymore.

My 2 favorite all in 1 enthusiast cars. I love the VBs! such a great platform, leaps above previous gen WRXs but its a damn crime it doesn't get the STI model. But either way, hatchback Life is where its at gotta go Golf R

I’d take the GTI (and did) over the TS. The DSG is excellent. Perfect daily driver. No commercial. Considering the R next. Miss manual driving to an extent but way over it now. Also a Subaru fan. Own a Forester. Just too many sub par reviews of the WRX. Either way, nice to have these few options left and neither are particularly inexpensive unfortunately.

IMO, these are really not a fair comparison. The R is much more upscale, no cheap plastic on fenders, more power, better drivetrain, etc etc. I'm biased but have owned both cars and the Golf R has way more performance and potential in the aftermarket. I view the WRX as a lower market good option if you don't have Golf R money to spend but be very careful modding, they are very well known to blow up (hell, i think Donut Media went through 4 of them in their hi/low series???)

Live in CO; all the kids love WRX. I am lifetime V dub head. Subi breaks ring lands,oul pick ups, clogged oil channels. VW will have the known external problems; Water pump, secondary air valve. The Subi will destroy itself, the "don't rally this rally car." V dub has pretty much endless after market. Power and handling can be modded to the moon. Yes, you can have a $15,000 dollar motor built for Subi and be OK. Put $15,000 in the R.....you approach super car zone.

Last year of manual in the Golf R was 2024. Torque with the manual is limited to 280 which is less than with the DSG. Would be interesting to compare the 2024 Golf R to the manual only WRX tS.

Looks are always subjective but it is a fact this generation is slower than the last couple gens which is pretty ridiculous imo!

Lol Golf R with the DSG hits the 1/4 mile as fast as the Mustang GT, Z, and Supra 3.0.
