The moment they release all the Expedition items into the Quiksilver store will be the moment no man's Sky stops development.

No it wont. Sean said he wont stop working on No Man's Sky, he even said at the game awards he will be updating another 10 years to come.

@DanielKing-dk5nr that's what you call hopeful thinking. No man's sky is probably my favorite game but saying the updates won't stop is a little wild.

Sean Murray said HE WILL NEVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR stop working on No Man's Sky, it's his baby, and he said "half the team 12 devs will be working on Light No Fire and the other 12 devs on No Man's Sky. They wont STOP.

I really want to see caves and an underworld like Minecraft's chasms. Hell, even if they have to 'fake it' where we have to find a cave 'door' to have a load screen. I'd love to see raid boss stuff for all that OP stuff we have like massive fleet invasions (not a simple dreadnought) and planet dungeons.

It is important to note that while the updates are free for us, they are actually betting developed for Light No Fire. They have established the perfect monetization for an indie dev.

One reason why they probably won´t stop updating NMS after 2025 is that they did some major technical changes to the PC code base. I doubt that it would be a good investment in "HGFS" if they already planned to stop updating the game. On the contrary, Hello Games argues that introducing HGFS on the PC means, that they have an identical update method on all platforms, making the development and rollout of updates easier.

I think they will continue to give updates and new content, maybe just not as frequently as it’s been in the past. They’ll easily move things over from LNF into NMS like they’ve already been doing. It’s like a perfect testing ground as well.

Many dev teams/companies support multiple games at the same time.. I don't see LNF stopping NMS updates, they will likely do a back and forth thing, keeps burn out low, for the most part, but will also change to we'll get a few major updates(possiblely 2 a year per game) then maybe 2 minor updates outside those updates and of course the bug fixes... With this being my own pound of thoughts..

Great video. I like the way you presented both sides of the speculation. I think NMS is a unique and creative game unlike any other. As much as I'm looking forward to Light no Fire, I can't imagine ever being bored with NMS. I have almost 3000 hours and I still have a huge list of stuff I want to do. There just is not enough hours in the day. I think the the game is only limited by ones imagination. I wish for some simple things like more moving building parts, free placement that is actually free placement, and that we could put food made in the nutrient processor onto plates. There are endless possibilities for new missions and added story lines too. I'd like to see much more base parts, because it can get a bit stale trying to use the same parts to make something different, but on the other hand, not having a huge variety can stretch one's imaginations and be very rewarding when we invent something new. However, I must say, I have had a great time using the new floating plants. They alone have been a breath of fresh air. Cheers.

Love NMS. They could develop the story of the Autophage and brood mother. I think the game updates are far from over yet.😊

I think that when the time comes that we get the NMS equivalent of Bethesda's Creation Club active development on NMS will basically come to a halt.

I don't think they will end development. Hello Games is just too devoted at this point. True 0 to hero devs. Instead of like SIX updates we might get 1 big and 2 smaller ones with an expedition. That's my guess. Keep in mind DEVELOPING a game is far more time time consuming then updating two games. They have been developing LnF for 5 years, as you said. So yeah, NMS is still gonna be a focus for the game. MAYBE after 12 years, they might simmer down.

If they stopped here it would be ok it's been a great run and it's a great game..nothing lasts forever...however I think it will go on for a few years NMS is a great testing ground for LNF systems..like the Aquarius update. I think they're throw in more things of that type to test.

I am going to tell you why it will not be the last year... Steams best of charts, based on Gross Revenue. It is still in Bronze, and made the same money as Balatro ( had an amazing year ) and Horizon Forbidden West, You want some idea in money don't you? Well those games are respectively rumoured to have made NET $8 million and $11 million on steam in 2024. So I guess we can say it still bought it a whacking $8 million just on steam. All I am saying is it would take a lot for a small team to say goodbye to a golden goose like that. But, it is starting to make sense to use the technology they have created to make another game... after all, I don't think they will have much problem convincing us it will be supported and improved upon.

The thing is with sales is that the longer this goes, your kids grow up and buy the game. The space stations and the space rangers in the tubes near the suit upgrade terminal. Is this only meant to be for show or is this some storage tube for space station protection of some kind? They all looks like some sort of star trooper type kind of force? So will there be some sort of FPS aspects on / inside space stations? The other is purple star systems and will this add in a new era / area of higher space danger with some new game altering mechanic? 255+ galaxies? an implementation of a new danger scheme with a 255+ upgrade tree or danger tree would likely change the game for a very long time. Could there one day be certain parts or regions of galaxies more dangerous with a mix of different procedural attributes? Rockets? imagine a new breed of planet system to hostile to land a ship, you send a rocket with capsule for some reason. We have a rocket already so why not the ability to upgrade it with space capsule and choices to land it like parachute, bounce ball or some other crazy mechanic? My view is they could update this game a long time if they were to just concentrate more on the dangerous side of what space is.
