I live in SoCal where there are a TON of Toyota dealers. Over this past weekend, I visited 7 Toyo dealerships, one of which (Longo Toyota, El Monte, Ca.) which is huge and claims to be "#1 volume Toyo dealer since 1967, in the world." I don't know if that is true or not. At any rate, while shopping for a Taco and expecting to see great prices, I was amazed to still see ALL of the Tacomas (over 2 days I must have seen well over 200) with side sticker mark-ups. I did attempt to deal on at least one from every lot I hit. Not one dealer would budge below the mark-up price. And these are all 2024's. I am lucky, because I don't "need" to get a car, so it was easy to walk away. Anyhow, this is crazy. On top of that, there were not a lot of people (customers) on any of the lots. On a couple of the lots, I was the ONLY shopper there, I didn't see anyone else other than the hoard of salesmen standing in groups drinking coffee. WTF.....Toyota is losing their mind.

Yeah, that’s a shame and ridiculous. They must make a lot of money selling other vehicles other than Tacoma’s. The markup days are over and MSRP is over as well. I test drove a 24 Tacoma sport today in Twin Falls Idaho with lift and after market wheels with BFG Ko3 tires with the premium+ package and fell in love with the power and exceleration and it was only regular 4 engine

All turbocharged and CVT transmission cars/trucks have reliability issues for Hondas and Toyotas. People are hanging on their older and more reliable vehicles and not in a rush to buy these newer ones. They are waiting for the manufacturers to iron out the problems.

For how midsize truck owners will use their vehicles, naturally aspirated V6 is sufficient. If you need to consistently tow over 5000 lbs, you would have gotten a half ton. There was no point in going to a turbo 4 cylinder.

beg to differ. the 3.5 V6 was not a good fit for the tacoma or any truck for that matter. The transmission was even worse. Even with the OTT tune it was very lethargic. Going uphill versus a semi truck and trying to pass it is risky. these days the normal speed limit on the hwy is above 75 and the 3.5 V6 NA just didn't cut it especially at altitude. With the turbo 4 you don't have problems with that and you get V6 horsepower and diesel like torque. That's exactly what a truck needs to move it's own weight and to tow/haul anything. Not to mention midsize trucks are now close to 5000lbs!. toyota already said they didn't want to put a diesel in the US market because it's so strict nowadays to introduce a diesel engine. that inline turbo 4 is basically the best of both gas and diesel worlds while polluting less to make epa regulations. Something the NA V6 and diesel can't do moving forward.

horsepower rating in trucks is all show for advertising reasons. Strap it to a dyno and its more like 260 wheel horsepower. What matters most in a truck is Torque. that 3.8 V6 doesn't make nearly enough at low RPM like the turbo 4 or any turbo engine for that matter. Facts

yep, it wasn't the cost increase as much as the smaller engines. Big mid-sized trucks with turbo smaller engines are a very bad combo. Guys want to feel like their truck engines are manly and rugged, not small and limp.

I’m not sure how that would even be possible. It just turned 2025 and these trucks come all the way from Mexico. No way these trucks could get here in six days. Let alone be built. The Colorado, especially the zr2, is a MUUUUCH better vehicle with more features and capability (many features Toyota doesn’t offer for any amount of money), and….its cheaper!!!

It’s pretty common for dealers to have a large supply of a high selling vehicle. It’s not the pandemic anymore where nobody had inventory. If you really want to try and confirm they aren’t selling, write down some VIN numbers and come back in a week or two. Otherwise this is just another doom and gloom clickbait channel lol

That is not the number of 2024 models sold. It is the number of ALL Tacomas sold in 2024, which included a mix of carry-over 2023 models and the new 2024 model. People were buying up all the remaining 2023 3rd Gen Taco like crazy in 2024, just like people were buying up the last 5th Gen 4Runner in 2024.

Overpriced and poorly built. They move the tacoma production to Mexico (cheaper labor) and increased prices. A lot of early report with poor build quality and reliability. Toyota is going down hill.
