The new Ram HD line up is awesome. The new Cummins engine has the power and torque, the look of the truck is sharp, and everything else is spot on. But I do have one question with the 2500 line up. And that is, Did Ram put the Cummins diesel engine in the Power Wagon? The Rebel is not a Power Wagon and yet the Rebel has a diesel with a winch. Ram said they couldn't make a Power Wagon with a diesel engine due to the space with the cooling system up front on the cummins and having a winch add in as well. Yet, they made the Rebel with it. The only thing that stands out between a Rebel and A Power Wagon is that the Rebel doesn't have a front locker nor a sway bar disconnect. As well as the 4/10 gearing. The Power Wagon does. So I'm just trying to figure out if they finally made a diesel Power Wagon for the 2025 model year. If so, sign me up!

I like the truck but would really love to see a v8 gas option with 430-450 horsepower and 500+ tq in the HD model. I currently have a 6.4 in my 2024 and I’m happy with it just would like to see ram keep up with the competition that 7.3 that ford offers seems to be the ticket at the moment.

What they would need is a V8 turbo. That will get you the torque. If a 3 liter V6 can get 500 lb-ft then a 5.7 V8 should be able to do 800 lb-ft no issue.

It would be interesting to see a 6.0L Inline 6 gasser, single turbo, call it the "Cat 6 Hurricane HD." If you could get 1.5 times the SO Hurricane those numbers would blow away all current gasser options. Single turbo for less complexity, and yes it would not sound as good as the V8's but forced induction AND large displacement....none of this either or BS

@@traviskirk3018 I have the 7.3 gas truck (and coincidentally a 2000 Excursion with a 7.3 diesel) and I like the new engine. ~9000 miles on the ticker and it has been great. Jury is out on the 10-speed. I have a tremor with 4.30’s and it’s almost too torquey down low. Still been a great truck so far but every time I see a mega cab Cummins I miss my old Rams a little bit.

Hate how they got rid of the wood steering wheel in the Longhorns and Limiteds! Also same old cab since 2010. Also not a fan of having the exhaust brake, tow haul buttons, etc be part of the screen instead of a psychical button. Still excited to see/drive these first hand

Without knowing all of what they've done to the cummins, the only thing that I don't like about this truck so far is the bigger screen having the trailer brake gain, exhaust brake, tow/haul and stuff as a digital button. If screen goes out, that is no good.

The power in the bed is not a first in the HD segment. Ford's Pro Power is available in the HD trucks. My 24 Super Duty came standard with 2kW Pro Power in the bed. Pro Power onboard is not limited to the F150.

I hope so. Have driven rams forever. Pull trailers nearly everyday. Had 2 68rfe's go out in my 16. Bought a new 21 3500 with the aisun trans. It started going out at 26 thousand. Went to warranty it and they said it would be down for 3 to 4 months. Traided it for a new 22 f250. 57k so far and at least the trans is hangin in there. The ford electrical is shit though. All my steering wheel buttons swap places with their functions and quit for weeks at a time. Speakers on one side quit periodically. Dash guage lights work when they feel like it... havent bothered to take it in because the local ford dealer has the dumbest humans i have ever encountered working in their service department. Gave up on any repairs. Maybe ram can get me back on the wagon.....

@@steverobbins8661idk man my brother just bought a 2023 F350 basic model just a XLT that makes 500HP and 1200 torque and I gotta say that thing compared to my 2022 Ram 3500 tows so much better compared to my rams lower 370 HP and 850 torque. I was really thinking about switching to Ford to tow my equipment around but I will have to wait and see if Ram is able to step there game up with this new ram because even a 2023 Ram 3500 Dually that I rented once couldn’t handle the weight as good as my brothers Ford F250. That was kind of the point where I said fuck this I’m switching to Ford. But I will have to wait a bit and see if the new ram is any better before I switch to ford

I suspect the real reason Cummins put a helical cam drive gear in this engine was to reduce high frequency vibrations that can destroy roller cam followers.

The headlights are the bottom part, that top strip is running lights. In order to comply with safety regulations, the headlights are tested to ensure that they operate well and illuminate the road ahead

I like it. Wish Ram updated the 2025 1500 and Heavy Duty trucks more with body and frame. i think there could of been more improvements other than tech. I think the front end is a good change, but I'd have to see it in person and the tech is good. I am glad to see column shifters back to the V8s, it's more truck like and how a truck should be. They should of done that for the 1500s as well. As always, great video!

I REALLY like the front fascia on the new Ram HD. It looks perfect. At first, you would think its "too busy", but it is clean and sharp. I know it depends on the trim. I'm a GM guy, but that 1989 Dodge Cummins truck I'd take over any of the new Ford, GM and Ram trucks of today. Dodge trucks, especially old one were never known for good reliability But to me the 89-91 Dodge with Cummins is the absolute sweet spot, Dodge issues and all.

Take a look at 4:19 and 12:35 in the video. I would take that old truck any day as a work truck. You can actually reach into the bed. It's really a shame that there are no options at all for trucks that aren't overly tall now.

No point in a heavy duty if you go with gas, may as well get the 1500 or trx or raptor etc if you like the off road presence instead. Heavy duties and super duties deserve turbo diesel power plants not gas guzzling gasoline engines. They simply cannot produce the torque numbers to be considered heavy duty vehicles

An HD gasser is rated to tow much more than any half-ton and if will do it more confidently. Also the HD gassers have the highest payload figures you can get it. There's a reason the Ford 7.3L Godzilla has been very popular. There's still plenty of us who want and need an HD truck but don't want a diesel. A TRX can't tow or haul anywhere close to what a HD Rebel with the Hemi can do. You're talking literally half the towing at best and nearly 1/3rd the payload.

Our 2022 Tradesman came with the option for the upgraded dash display, like dash that's standard on the higher trim models. We just picked up a 2024 Tradesman and it's no longer being offered as an upgrade option. Kind of wish all the trims models had the bigger dash display, we have it on our 3500, and with the Cummins it really provides a ton more information for the driver to monitor.

he said they intentionally did that to not change the classification of the truck, where i live everyone de-rates their diesels to 9900lbs gvwr or we would need an annual inspection, which we dont want since most peoples emissions have fallen off on the highway lol that being said the aluminum fords can carry a good bit more weight with the same registered gvwr since the aluminum body is so much lighter

ZF commercial rated 8-speed. Best improvement for 2025. It used in a lot of medium duty trucks without issues.

I was really hoping the payload on the 2025 Ram 2500 diesel was higher for 2025 because I’m looking for a new truck to tow a fifth wheel with a 2060 hitch weight and the Ram looks better than its competition in my opinion. This new Ram 2500 has about 1,100 lbs. less payload than a 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 and about 1,250 lbs. less than a 2024 Ford F-250. These numbers for those trucks might even increase for the 2025 model year.

It's almost no additional cost to move to a 3500 DRW. The 2500 diesels have always had payload problems which made it an easy decision to go 3500 as soon as you wanted a diesel.

Basically this truck seems to be a simple refresh with a lot of High Tech updates to go along with the Cummins & ZF Transmission. Yet, they keep the low GVWR on the 3/4 Tons, they still use the junk Firestone tires and the overall body dating back to the 2010 Gen. 4 trucks. Personally, I will keep my 2014 3500 Gen 4.

I would have liked to see the 2500 at least have a GVWR option of 10500, 10750, or 11k. The reason I stick with my Chevrolet is because I don’t get dinged for towing a gooseneck.

Theoretically class 2B trucks are supposed to be in the 8,501 to 10,000lb GVWR range. Anything between 10,001 and 14,000 lbs is a class 3. If you want that GVWR, buy a 3500.

One small mistake. The 6.7 I6 Cummings with the 6-speed 68RFE, and the Aisin HD transmission had 3.73 rear axle, not a 4.10. The 4.10 rear was only available with the 6.4 Hemi. Other than that good info.

4:10's came with the Aisin as an upgrade ($200 I think). I haven't seen one behind the 68, but definitely a ton behind the Aisin.

I have a 2022 HO Ram 3500 DRW Laramie Sport with Aisin Transmission and 4:10 gears and love it. I put 20 inch Fuel wheels with 35" Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Truck rides great with air suspension in back and pulls strong with HO Cummins with Aisin and 4:10 gears.

At 11,000lb GVWR it is no longer a 2500. The max GVWR on a class 2B truck is 10,000lbs. At 11,000lbs, it should say 3500 on it. The F450 pickup says 450, but since it has a GVWR or 14,000lbs it is only a class 3.

@@rich7447 well aware on vehicle class and gvwr. GM offers gvwr 10650 and Frod offers a couple variations up to 11400. So my statement still stands, it would be nice if Ram offered an optional higher gvwr.

My question is will the front and rear main seals go the distance? My 2018 lost them both at 44k miles and was a 17k dollars repair that would take 11 months to get done at doge here in socal. I used to love Cummins but the quality just isn’t there any longer.

Not seeing a telescopic steering column, always thought it odd RAM was the only mfg not offering that feature in the HD . Also not seeing a heads up display. On the plus side I do like the new ZF 8 and improved mpg, and improved performance.

You have to get it aligned by someone who doesn’t cut corners. Camber isn’t adjustable but if they set the toe right you will have no issues. Total toe must be 0.00 to 0.05 Works on mine

Don’t get sucked into internet posts. My 2020 1500 Ram V6 has never seen the dealership service department since new. The truck is tight as a drum with zero squeaks, rattles or other annoying noises.
