Fantastic review , very thorough . I thought back to the Swapmoto shootout and it was like Deja vu , all 5 or 6 of their test riders also said after riding and testing all the bikes when you jump on the YZ at the end it just feels head and shoulders above anything else out there and that's exactly what all of Vitals test riders thought as well . One thing that was not mentioned that is important to some people is Yamaha's Power Tuner App , extensively updated for 2025 - more functionality, a wider range of adjustment, improved interface. Three (3) Settings Types: Fuel Injection (FI) and Ignition (IG), Traction Control and Launch Control, bike monitoring including race log, failure diagnostics, machine status, bike speed, throttle opening, engine speed, fuel consumption, water temperature, intake air temperature and battery voltage. Best of all the power tuner app is free which is not the case with the other bikes.

@wroomfn24142 ай бұрын
i think with minor engine changes kawi could overcome ktm and maybe honda because kawi’s chassis is really comfortable, predicteble and easy to ride in both agressive and soft riding styles. 1000$ would not change anything to austrian bikes because even if you replace air fork with spring fork (what costs more than 1000$ haha) the shock is still just cheap piece of crap. i would say, ktm is a great overall bike but it is not the best in any aspect. steel frame feels stable but heavy sometimes comparing to alluminum frames, engine is easy to ride but sometimes it is difficult to rev it fast to get the power. probably the best bikes to invest 1k$ are kawi and honda because they have great chassis, average suspension (not great in stock form but tunable) and they just lack some horsepower)) but, if you invest this money to yamaha you can get the perfect bike for yourself because with this investment you are not trying to fix the bike’s weaknesses. with this money you’re building a machine depending on your riding style and preferences and this is what makes yz the perfect choice (in my opinion)

if you cut 3/8" off a spring, and off the shock shaft, and a few mm off the linkage arm... then sit on the bike with the sag set to spec for both bikes... the spring rate is decreased, the shock is now at a greater percent of its total travel for that amount of motion, which then reduces the time the linkage has to increase the leverage ratio on the shock. that leverage ratio moves the progression to a later point in the travel and this gives the feeling of softer settings, but it's just delaying the progression because it needed the space to do so. when all said and done the bike sits about 1 inch lower during riding than the KTM, while having nothing to do with subframe or seat height changes. this is either good or bad depending on how tall or heavy or fast one may be. so yes, it's more than the 10 mm, but it may not be obvious till you ride ruts etc. buy the bike that works for you.
