I have the same type of set up you do, done by my James River dealer. I use the lower hydraulic couplings. I find it works good enough, for the time being anyway.

Yeah. What I originally had was pretty bad but this works I’ve ordered the mechanical self-leveling loader for my tractor so it will be changed a little bit when that comes in. I Also have a shipment coming in from artillian tomorrow. Included in the shipment is a hydraulic diverter kit so I will be doing an update video on this in the future

These hoses have been a point of frustration for the last few months. It was partially because I didn’t know what I was ordering and neither did the salesman Thanks for watching

This April we bought a brand spanking new 3046R with a cab and a 7' mower and a grapple. ( the grapple was not in stock so it will be delivered ASAP. We also asked for a remote in the back and a 3rd function up front for the grapple. Guess what, the tractor already came with one remote in the back. So we ended up with 3 remotes in the back. One is for the grapple, the other is for the remote we wanted in the back. They could have said it already has one in the back. Now we have to jury rig some hydraulic hoses with zip ties from the back to the FEL for the grapple. I thought John Deere was the ultimate brand going. And to add to the crap. the front end loader would not hold its position. It would keep dropping slowly ( about 3" a minute). with the tractor running or not. then when you tried to raised it back up it would jerk downwards before raising back up. It was delivered to us that way so now they classify that as warranty work. The JD Dealer said they had never heard of this type of malfunction. Welcome to my world. They came out and found a defective hydraulic cylinder in the FEL. They had to order a new one. The piece of crap FEL damaged our camper shell top for our dually as we tried to lift it with the defective FEL. We are literally not a happy camper. PS we are in East Texas.

Long hoses and creativity and you can use the rear remote for 3rd function.... or 3rd function for rear remote. There are true 3rd function setups that don't use a diverter.

I ended up installing an artillian diverter when I got the mechanical self-leveling loader. Now I have two sets of hydraulic lines run for a grapple but I always use the ones that come off the diverter

So I just got the hydraulic top link for mine and I’ve got a third function diverter kit from artillian that I’m going put on to free up both of my rear remotes I also ordered the mechanical self leveling loader for it. Still don’t have it quite the way I want it but I’m getting there

Good info, I think one key difference you did not note is hydraulic flow difference between a diverter and your setup. With yours you could still actuate both the bucket and grapple albeit taking 2 hands (easy w practice in the times its needed) The diverter shuts off flow from cylinders while the grapple is in use making it a single stage function so u cannot rollback the bucket w debris and clamp down on the grapple making It tighter as the material shifts simotaneously

Thanks for the video, I'm in the exact same situation with my 2038R. I've got the rear remotes and the 14' hoses run up to the front of the loader, the dealer actually did a great job routing and installing everything. But, like you I also have some binding and pinching potential on the hose ends, so far no damage, yet. My questions for you.. are your new hard lines that run along the loader a factory part, or did they custom bend them for you? Did they modify your 14' hoses, or just get new shorter hose to run to the couplers. If any of these are OE parts, you have the part #'s ?

Sorry, I don’t think I kept the paperwork showing If there was a part number. I think it just said hose kit and fittings combined for around $180 and everything else I paid for was labor/shop time.

What is the purpose of the 3rd function? to operate the grapple thumb independently?

By default the loader has two functions. Function one is raise and lower. Function two is curl and dump. The grapple requires a 3rd function which is open and close. My snowplow requires a 3rd function which is tilt left and tilt right

I've thought about rigging up something similar to this on a JD 5100. Looks like it works fine for a grapple but any ideas how to make it work for something that requires a continuous hydraulic flow. Like a mower or mulcher?

A real shame you didn't check out the Artillian diverter. My dealer is installing it on my 2032R with the push-button control on a replacement loader control handle. Summitt also has a multiple function rear remote setup that would allow more than 2 remotes and could easily be expanded to handle the grapple.

I actually have the artillian and diverter kit, but I ordered the new mechanical self-leveling loader from my dealer and I’m waiting to put that diverter kit on until I get the new loader

@@RockhillfarmYT - Just went in to sign the papers today. The tractor is in the bay getting the last few options installed. The self-leveling loader looks slick. The new control knob with the push-button for the diverter looks like it came from the factory that way. I think we're both gonna have a lot of fun when we get them. I'm real interested in how the 4 in 1 bucket is going to work. Unfortunately it's on backorder until the end of January.

Thanks for the video. My dealer actually sent me the link to this video. My dealer wants to install this same rear scv setup on the tractor I am trying to buy and I didn’t even know it was an option. I am thinking of going this route instead of a diverter kit like the one from artillian mainly because it might be nice to operate a hydraulic top link sometime in the future. Were you frustrated with having to reach for the scv lever to operate the grapple?

It doesn’t bother me. That’s the Only way I’ve had it so I’m used to it and I have use the grapple a lot Artillian sent me a diverter kit to do a comparison of the pros and cons of each setup I should have that video out in about a week I currently have the two rear ports. One of them is set up on my hydraulic top link and the other one is run up to the grapple I ordered a stump grinder that requires two rear hydraulic ports so it will be handy to have the diverter so I can run a Grapple at the same time, although how often are you really gonna do that

The dealer did install those hard lines. I don’t know about a part number. I just sat down in the service guy’s office and said we have to do something better. I don’t know if there’s a part number for it or if the guys just bent some line in a way that works but I paid 500 for the hardlines Now I use artillian diverter kit most of the time. I still have those lines ran as a back up

It is a clean look, but I prefer the functionality of my diverter, Because you can control your third function from the loader joystick. The set up in this video is run off of the rear remotes which uses a different lever off to the side

It does seem steep and dealerships are usually expensive but also I think the fittings for each end are expensive no matter what Probably half of that is there shop time which isn’t cheap

They do make kits now, BXX10213 & BXX10513 is what you need.
