204) Panther Lake (rain, new gear, gratitude, tempting fate)

On Saturday, June 8th, 2024, I set out in a light rain under gray skies to hike 10.4 KMS to Panther Lake, a beautiful little nook in the backcountry where I’d never been before. I loved the soothing sounds of the soft rain pitter-pattering on the tree cover, which mostly protected me. My spot was beautiful and I enjoyed two brand new meals, some new gear, a long nap, a raging fire, the spring peepers, a plethora of gratitude and a fun exploration of the lake. The rain was a wonderful companion this weekend, perhaps my favourite of the season so far.

You are a very busy girl Christina. I guess that is why your body is taking some naps during some of your challenging but relaxing hikes and campouts. That is a very good thing to allow to happen to you, nap and then continue the enjoyment with a full recharge. The kayak is such a great addition to your arsenal, it opens up a whole new dimension to your adventures. It is a little extra weight but probably worth it in the long run I think. Another fantastic video my friend, selfie stick or not. Very well done. Thanks for another very enjoyable and very inspiring trek. See you on the next one.
@Womaninthewoods13

Hello, Mister Campfire! Certainly not a big deal, but just for the record, it is not a kayak. It is apack raft. It only weighs 3-1/2 pounds. Isn’t that incredible? Definitely worth such minimal extra weight. Yeah, it’s eye-opening (literally, ha ha) how much the nap recharges me. Well, it’s a pretty long nap so obviously is needed. I wonder if I’ll employ this afternoon nap routine along the GR5. It would be nice to stay awake up in the mountains and underneath the stars more often. As always, my friend, thank you for watching and for your detailed comments. I appreciate them, and I appreciate you. 🥰🙏🏼✌🏼

Thanks for taking us along on your hike. Pretty sure I stayed at Panther (that site) a couple years ago on a clockwise hike on the short loop. I've gotten in the habit of never checking the weather before a trip. It'll be what it is. Or, there is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing. An umbrella goes along way to making a wet trip enjoyable.

Fun video! I can't wait to see your upcoming trip. I did butter curry recently but I brought out the jar. Dehydrating it is a great idea. I'll have to try that. Um, I'm pretty sure the universe was telling you to make a selfie stick out of a fishing pole. You only needed to unlock your mind with wacky tobacky. 😂

😂😂😂 Too funny, Phil! Dehydrating is so easy! And because drying times are usually 8+ hours, you do it overnight as you sleep. It’s really the simplest and most hassle-free thing. I hope you try it and let me know how it goes if you do! 🥰🙏🏼✌🏼

Another stellar video! Well done! What video editing software do you use? I like the intro and outro music a lot … Are you able to mix it in with a little more sound levelling so that it’s not louder than the other sounds? I love to hear the footsteps and raindrops etc … puts me to sleep… but then the music is loud enough to wake me up
