I get the distinct vibe from how Rick talks about Nietzsche that he just personally finds his work very stimulating, and that he probably gave this series of talks because he can or because he actually thought it was that relevant to our lives. From the little window into his perspective, through his narrative of other works and anti-narratives, that seems pretty feasible, and watching these I am inclined to evaluate many of my fundamental beliefs in such interesting new ways partially through suspending disbelief from the energy that Rick brings. His genuine passion makes getting deeper meaning from this material much more accessible to we who are trapped in our modern capitalist schedules.
