The ferrite beads are typically defined by impedance at 100MHz. Again, not always, some manufacturers give you the inductance and max current, and by looking into datasheet you can find all the jucy data. Permeability vs frequency and stuff like that...

Every time you say, "so I went to the store...", we hear, "so I went to the magical fairyland of parts that might as well be on Mars for the vast majority of my viewership...". Remember the old days when every town, large or small, had a Radio Shack? Sure, Radio Shack was awful. But when I was 12, I didn't know that. There were more than enough parts to do tons of interesting projects. No, not every project I could dream of, but enough to keep me busy. Next time I come to the Bay Area for work, I'm bringing an empty suitcase and visiting "the store". My wife will love it. Not.

I've met WA5VJB!! Very nice guy, talked my ear off about antennas

I would imagine sneezing is one of the hazards of working with parts that small.

You don't even dare to sneeze, just tensing up it flies into orbit!

The inductor is used for peaking, in other words improve high frequency response. I don't think ferrite beads would be a good choice because the beads are designed to be very lossy at high frequency.

Try putting double-sided tape on the desk under the camera to put parts on. Also, you can use a NanoVNA to characterize the inductor over frequency.

Maybe make a depression in the board using a drill bit - for your MMIC ?

WA5VJB, Kent Britain, an absolute legend when it comes to RF. He’s supremely good at coming up with novel designs that are reproducible.

As for the holes for those older types of MMIC’s. Have worked on plenty of of PCB’s using them without holes, the legs were just bent down the body and then at right angles at the PCB. Still love those old-style MMIC’s… even though they are just darlingtons in disguise, they are very cewl.

I standardized on the 0805 package size because parts are plentiful and about as small as I care to handle.

The first resistor before it went to Davie Jones locker, Looked to show 60 Ohms ?
@NikiBretschneiderАй бұрын
4:56 It looked like 60.7Ω, but then it went to /dev/null. The second one shown different values. Maybe there are mixed parts in that bin.

I have build WA5VJB, Kent Britain Antennas for work and for me . I have tested the antennas most work very will.

How about a link to your RLC meter gadget? That did look interesting.
