Dear Sujith, Recently started watching your videos. This video was very special and nostalgic for me. As part of this church, CSI was carrying nursery school and i am one among the first batch who studied there in 1987-88 period. Classes were organized inside the church. I believe there was another entrance for the church where you have steep steps near to Father quaters. After watching the video, i was recalling 30 year old memories. I am sure, Residents near to that locality dont know about the history of the church and its importance. My mom used to told me that from the "Kannisa" (locally called for church) gate you see the sea and the area till kannur railway station was ground. After cantonment established, they started acquiring most beautiful grounds of kannur. Father was explaining very well. Thank you for the initiative to enlighten the importance of the historical place. Sujith : One of the sayings in the region, Cananaore/Kananore has been shorten and called as Kannur.

Great, this is the very Church by which I and my friends used to go for school, to St. Michael's. But at that time never new the great tradition and history of this great church. We used to play by the nearby area of the cemetery . But sad to see the present condition of the cemetery. I think the parish members should take some interest and convert the area into a nice looking place like those in Bangalore and North East India which boast about their rich English tradition. For this no need of any ASI funding or help, only enthusiasm to do some thing different to preserve a rich culture of the past. I think if this church was in Kottayam or Cochin or else at Trichur surely the church and the cemetery would have been a great tourist attraction. Anyway the people of Kannur spoiled a great asset of the past. Let us hope some change will come with the new airport.
