4 years later ZT has changed the steel, CPM-20CV holds an edge long but it is more brittle. My issue is the lock up is trash. The liner doesn't fit completely under the blade at all and only a tip of it rests under the blade. A liner lock should fit completely under the blade and cross at least 50% of the blade width; such is not the case with the ZT. I have the older CMP-20CV. Current CND price is $292 and my made in Taiwan $50 folders have better lock up than a "Premium" USA made knife.

They have a winner here at every price and steel level. I'd love to see an even higher tier limited with Maxamet or LC200N or vanguard If they can't use that due to Spyderco.

During the brief ZT minimum advertized pricing (MAP) motitorium, I stocked up on many additional ZTs, including the ZT 0357. I rarely pay full price on anything I don't need, so an incentive helped. why wouldnt you want assisted?
@jamesstraub49814 жыл бұрын
I generally prefer G10 but not for an extra $70. With both knives being assisted, there's no reason for me to get the ZT.

Just bought a link. Great looking. Great Blade Steel. Great handle shape ..But slick in hand, no Jimping on the spine, or liner lock. The back spacer has very minimal friction. If Ganzo knives can put effective Jimping on their knives so can Kershaw. I've had it for two days so far not impressed. Bearing and Jimping on a non assisted flipper model would be a great knife.
@snippits752 жыл бұрын
Tell me why the liner lock needs jimping. It's super smooth and easy to push the liner aside to unlock the blade without jimping. I like the liner as is. Jimping would have been awesome on the spine, but I can do without it. Love my Link!

I'd just like to see Kershaw implement some Gimping on their more popular blades

I am sceptical on Kershaw's heat treat of their higher end steels. While they are very good at HT of their Sandvik, I was always disapointed with Kershaw/ZT better steels, my Shallot in S110V and ZT in S30V performed much worse than RAT1 in AUS8 and that is not a good result for such steels. Too sad, the built quality is excellent with KAI, but the steels..well mediocore. Hope you have better luck there than I did.

That's funny I bought a Link in 20CV and from just cutting boxes, paper and food the edge has worn down and isn't hair popping sharp, I'd say it seems to ware similar to a little better than AUS-10 or under S30V or at least the batch of steel I got.
@BLACKOPS63912 жыл бұрын
hey you get what you pay for tho, not a bad knife overall, I love the OD green aluminum
@LookieChannel2 жыл бұрын
@@BLACKOPS6391 Yes I got similar feeling, Kershaw heat treat of the steels is kinda "safe mode", probably not to be brittle too much, but it takes away the steel abilities in cut performance.

Is the handle shorter on the link?

I'm guessing because you didn't mention experiencing "lock slip" with either it didn't happen? Under YOUR type of "everyday use"?? :) None of the other reviewers mentioned it....or the more popular ones (no ffense heh...like Metal Compplex, Slicey Dicey....)...but 2 "unknowns" who posted YT vodes about "lock slip" and his experience with his buddy's 357...who managed to invoke locck slip by casually pressing on the spine with one hand...bad copies probably...
@gideonstactical Жыл бұрын
Ya I have not experienced that issue on mine.
@AGC828 Жыл бұрын
@@gideonstactical That YTer probably lucked out and got 2 bad copies. :) NO reviewer mentined `lock slip `with he 357...which on a side note...has thicker liners and a stronger spring...is that worth the extra $70ÉÉ Ummm.....I`m leaning towards the Link....funny you noticed more `snap`with the Link....with the `weaker`spring....

that particular kershaw isnt manufactured in the usa. look on the knife. it says KAI on the blade. KAI is the manufacturer.

Nice blade steel and style. Only thing is, liner locks are a NO GO for me. I use my knives for real work and have had liner locks and Axis locks fail on me. I'll stick with my Recon 1 and Tri-ad lock instead. Thanks for the video my Bladed Brother 🇺🇸⚔️✝️

I love the blade shape and design. But….. unfortunately I can’t carry it for more then a few hours because the blade will start developing surface rust. Never had experienced this, not even with a Walmart $10 folder.

Great video Aaron, personally I’d go with the ZT (not this particular model) simply because every single one is made in 🇺🇸 and the quality Is more consistent IMO .
