I just love how when Monica starts talking about Ireland (at about 2:13), the background music starts to take on a Celtic flavour.

Agreed. Celtic music is gorgeous and this episode had some great examples of it. I love when composers add little touches to background scores like that.

I remember watching it when it originally aired back in 2000. As an American kid (I was 11-12 at the time), this episode was what first introduced me to The Troubles. Mom and I even had a discussion about them after the show, so if this episode was meant to inform people who maybe weren't aware of the conflict, it did its job, at least for me.

One thing, which I have always loved about "Touched By An Angel", is that many of the episodes spoke of truths & happenings to which many wanted to turn a blind eye in this world!! Many don't know or care about such horrific things as those which have happened between the Protestants & Catholics in Ireland throughout the years, & how it has affected the young people growing up, surrounded by those events!! The Good Friday Agreement, which was signed in April 1998, was a wonderful thing & a step towards a promise of peace for the children of Ireland!! Thank you to the "Touched By An Angel" cast & crew for making the episode from which this clip came -- "Life Before Death"!! Not just an episode of a tv show, but an episode which revolved around a part of history in Ireland!! If you don't know about it or think "oh, that's not here", you really should research & learn about it, for history repeats itself when mankind doesn't learn from it -- it may not be necessarily in Ireland, nor between Protestants & Catholics as in this episode, but things do still happen when mankind doesn't learn!!
