Mt Shasta, the fifth highest peak in California towering at 14,179 ft is a dormant volcano. We drove 10 hours from LA to reach the town of Mt Shasta. The ranger station is closed due to pandemic, but permit can still be issued at self-service outside the door of the office near West Alma St. It can also be acquired at the Bunny Flat trail head ($25/person).
We climbed using the Avalanche Gulch route which is the easiest and most popular route to reach the top. It's more than 6 miles one way with over 7,000 ft of elevation gain. One should prepare for this hike, it is not easy.

A serious congratulations to all of you Robert! All your training paid off. Been watching you train on our 3 saints and knew you had it in the bag short of weather issues. Have to reiterate Justin's comment about music choice during his cooking. I was LMAO brotha. Again amazing accomplishment! What's next C2C, maybe Rainier next year? I'll be at Joey's GDI Ranger meet up at crystal lake in 2 weeks of your able to make it. Hope to see you soon my good man....🍻Tagay and happy trails

It sounded like porn.. ha ha ha. I’m happy with the result after those grueling months of training. This one is totally different with the way I hike Whitney but yet have to try the mountaineer’s route though. Luckily we had a break for a better weather than the day prior. It could have been different story. I’m still homebound as of recent, my mom suffered from aneurism when I was summiting, of course I didn’t know that when it was happening. Now she’s out of danger but I want to be closed to her for now even in a long weekend.. no activity yet. Well, I hope I could get out sometime and see all of you. You stay safe, brother!🤘

@20robertang
@20robertang Жыл бұрын
There are guide companies that you can hire or join. If the timing is good, it is not so technical at all.. but of course one must prepare for this adventure. We trained for five months leading to the climb. Now that we have so much snow in SoCal, best time to start training and acquire some snow travel experience.
