I am so glad you two enjoyed this film. I am in agreement with people that say 22 is even better than 21, but it makes quite a few references to the first film which makes this necessary to see first. I love how red Mr. Movies got at the toilet scene, that is probably my favorite scene in the film right next to the scene when they are prepping for the party. Well next month I go back to Korean films, but I will leave it to their end of month live stream to announce what it is.

All original cast members from the 21 Jump Street (1987) television series have cameos in the film, except Richard Grieco and Dustin Nguyen. In one scene, the bad guys watch the original television series on television, and almost every shot shows Nguyen's character. Grieco and Nguyen later cameo in 22 Jump Street (2014). Channing Tatum passed on the movie twice before Jonah Hill convinced him to take the role. Jonah Hill lost over forty pounds for his role, because he and Channing Tatum were required to do several physically demanding stunts. Jonah Hill wrote the part of Captain Dickson with Ice Cube in mind. Originally, the drama teacher talks about doing cocaine with Whitney Houston's niece. After Houston died, the line was changed to "doing cocaine with Willie Nelson's horse."

No. Not really. An officer doesn't have to read Miranda before or after an arrest. It ONLY has to be given if you are going to question the criminal. If you start questioning and they answer without it. All that will be tossed. If he brings them in without reading it and they still freely talk to you. That can be used as long as you were not asking them questions. (Former law enforcement.)

Read SCOTUS ruling from 23 June 2022 , case Vega v. Tekoh. ... vote was 6 to 3 . Short version ... police officers can't be sued for not advising detained suspects of their right to remain silent during an interrogation. The ruling does not remove the requirement that police “Mirandize” suspects before questioning them . They have also ruled 6 to 3 that Border agency can come and search your home without warrant , if you live in that 100 mile from border area and you cant sue them .

I was also not a Channing Tatum fan until I saw this film. Helps that he actually has some good comedic chops. I feel like a lot of actors get the pretty boy stereotype until they prove otherwise to a male audience. If I'm remembering correctly I think Jonah Hill co-wrote this as well. The writing takes helps lift this one over the top.

One of the more memorable comedies within the past 10 years, in no small part due to the chemistry between Hill and Tatum. And I’m not sure if anybody has mentioned it yet, but from what I was reading was that the rumor of the third was supposed to be this a starting point into a crossover with the Men in Black series, which would have been pretty out there, but fun idea to see in my opinion of these two turning into MIB agents. Might as well answer the question barely anyone asked: You don't have to read Miranda rights nor does it invalidate any arrest. Miranda rights only need to be read before a custodial interview (once a law enforcement officer told you that you are detained or arrested). Even if you don't read the rights, anything that's said unprompted is a somewhere utterance and can still be used against you. However, if you proceed with questioning without waiving Miranda rights, anything you say MAY be thrown out and any evidence discovered SOLELY as a result of this questioning would also be thrown out as fruit of a poisonous tree. That's the simple explanation without numerous caveats, but now you don't have to call your friend.

Miranda rights only need to be read with a person is both in custody, AND interrogate or question them. Simply arresting someone or putting them in custody doesn't require Miranda. So they can arrest you for the murder of so and take you to jail, but they don't need Miranda until they actually go to question the suspect or interrogate them. So if you arrest someone for murder and on the way to jail they start talking or confessing, or something, dumb to be them.

You only need to say Miranda Rights if you will be questioning the arrestee yourself. Since MOST cases involve Officers needing to ask the arrestee questions they do have to read them in those situations. However if a mass shooter or something like that is caught they do not need to be read until they are interviewed by Detectives later on since the Officers in these situations only arrest and transport. Memorizing them is not required though, every Officer gets a card they are allowed to read it off of.

May the 4's be with you... If you look, JD was there, when they confronted the motorcycle gang, the second time. He used the line, "If they're cops, I'm DEA," This movie was quite a surprise. As you guys know, there was a time when resurrecting old TV shows from the dead was a big thing. You had Land of the Lost, Lost in Space, CHiPs, etc. It always seemed like they would either make the thing overly serious, or if they didn't feel like they could pull that off, they would turn it into an anything goes lazy comedy. It's pretty easy to take shots at something you don't care for, and sell it on screen for laughs. I wasn't expecting much from this movie, and in fact, I skipped it, when it was initially in theaters. What I li... love about this film, is that it's completely self aware. The first part, after the prologue, was almost an apology for the film. Also, it was done in a clever way. Modern comedies like to be self aware now, because it's a popular trend. It gives a film an undeserved boost, and enables it to be perceived as funnier than it actually is, because viewers feel like they are "getting" something. These days, it's usually done with little finesse and subtlety. This film, however, knows it's place. It's not trying to punch above its weight class. It's just trying to entertain, with the resources it's given. Because of this, it comes across as genuinely funny and a good time. It is CLEAR that those making the film KNEW what they were doing. It wasn't just a funny idea that someone had, that they were developing into a comedy movie. I liked the trip-out scenes, and the chicken truck. In actuality, there were so many good parts. The original series was kinda interesting. It was definitely a product of its time, and it could get cringeworthy. It typically showed on independent/UHF channels. In many ways, it felt like a sitcom - production wise. It was like a sitcom crew trying to make Hill Street Blues. It was a show about mature themes, that seemed to be aimed at an after school crowd. It didn't quite have the quality that something from the big three networks might have had, but you could also tell they were trying. It felt like a strange hybrid between serious and educational. Like Saturday Morning live action shows, there was often a theme or moral to the story. I am glad you guys enjoyed this. I am about to see how you guys enjoyed the sequel.

My bff and I saw this in the theater when we were around 16-17. We were pretty stoned and it was just us in the theater that day, so we had a blast and laughed until we were in tears. In a couple of months, it will mark 2 years since she died. Going to see 21 Jump St. with her is one of my best memories, so it’s one of my favorite feel-good comedies that always lifts my mood and I love seeing other people enjoy it just as much as we did.
