One of the most incredible marble runs I have ever seen (and I have seen a few ones )🙂! I can't imagine how much work it must have been. 80 fails! I would have gotten crazy after already 10 or 15! And how did you manage to film all this? I have identified a couple of narrow alleys that you probably went through while filming, but I can't imagine how you managed to film and walk through them at the same time without stepping on any part of the track! Congratulations to your 1000+ subscribers! Now, we all know how you got so many :-)
@MaskedMarble2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Yes, I had one narrow alley, plus one spot where I could step over into the middle. Once in the middle, I had enough space to film. Having a phone gimbal helps - I could look where to step while keeping the camera fairly steady on the action.

It’s videos like these that express why making modular marble run systems are an incredible idea, like the ways it teaches the concept of momentum via gravity and how to manipulate it should be a perfect way of teaching physical science. Not only can it look cool, but it teaches you the base concepts of physics before going into the math portion.
@MaskedMarble Жыл бұрын
Yes, it is a good way to give kids an intuitive sense of mechanics. I developed a free “GraviTrax Kids Club” curriculum which includes some of that basic physics (like kinetic/potential energy, momentum, energy conversion), as well as Bible and computer science (building digital logic circuits and simple computers with marbles). It’s geared for homeschools, but is also being used in at least one elementary school I know of. I also run some free-play clubs and the kids always tend to make the same mistakes when starting out, but the physics are self-teaching as the kids adjust their courses to get them to work.

15:40 Thank you for including my track! I recently realized that my track's running time is shorter than the minimum required running time. When I was reading the rules explaining the requirements for included tracks, I misread the minimum time required as 1/2 minutes (30 seconds) instead of 1 1/2 minutes (1 minute 30 seconds). Thus, my track ended up lasting, I think, 3/4 minutes (45 seconds) when I ran it in the app (I did not have the required pieces to build my track.). So sorry about that!
@MaskedMarble2 жыл бұрын
👍 Not a problem; I adjusted everyone’s track significantly anyway in attempts to increase reliability and lengthen running time. I simply ran multiple marbles through your track to get the time ip to 2:50, and it gave me time to perfect a new marble launching tower. I could have opted to use slow tracks in your layout, but since I already used several in the Colosseum, I decided to make your track fast for more action. Your track was the most reliable of the 10 tracks I included.

If it was a single marble, we would have to eliminate all the magnetic cannons (which are included with Gravitrax starter sets) and replace them with lift-type devices like Scoops, Flips, and Jumpers which each cost an additional $12. I only have so many of those. They are not as reliable as the cannons, though scoop is the best. So it's the marble-initiated action that continues to propagate through the track, not a single marble.

I can appreciate your accomplishment better than most; what you guys accomplished with a 20 minute track required laser focus and planning foresight. I had no idea that trying to aggregate smaller tracks together was ultimately not feasible. So that makes me wonder: at last year’s builder event, did the entire track successfully run from beginning to end by itself?

It didn’t. 6 hours were to short to built a perfect track. We had a lot of risky but beautiful trickshots but we we didn’t see how the track was filmed. We went to the hotel to prepare for dinner at this time. Maybe in this years builder event ☺️

The tracks with a lot of logical effort put into them are always the best, having marbles use same pieces of track multiple times, or having it slightly separated and taking turns between different tracks and using them all multiple times. Sorry if bad english, i dunno. Edit: the marble launch order is revealed at giant spiraling cone by AmaZANEone, 15:49 - 17:42 . Edit2: ok i take my words back, tower of power was way better, was literallg destruction going on around it, first of all 1 track piece getting flung away on the ground, as a warm up, right before the tower, then the loud gears connecting from top to bottom starting it, and finally the 2 other gears starting spinning by ropes that are also loudly flung on the ground, i love destruction!

Thanks for watching! It is interesting that you think that what God has initiated is not worthwhile. Of what moral or intellectual code are you aware, that has concluded that God's sending of his son to save you and I is a worthless attempt, and from where does such a code come from? Considering that all morals and the ability to think logically come from our creator, perhaps there is a hidden wisdom in his plan to redeem his creation after our totally failed attempts to try running the world without him. If we lived in a utopia as a result of our quest to be our own gods, you might have a point. But this human-run earth ain't no paradise.

Actually, mines are probably the sames as yours... who knows... My opinion is : the point here is showing this very nice Gravitrax build. Why to you need to put forward your moral toughts in it? Imposing your way of thinking to other people is not what will make progress humanity... i call this brainwashing and totalitarism. Not the best things ever invented by humans. The real paradize (that is a real utopia) whould be everybody thinking as mankind, whitout all tose communities fighting against each other because they know the best and true way of thinking... Keep up your good work and apologies for my poor sentences, i'm not a native english speaker. @@MaskedMarble
@MaskedMarble Жыл бұрын
The reason I include what God did in sending his son (which has nothing to do with a moral code, but rather the fact that none of us can fully keep a moral code), is because the number one moral imperative is to love God with everything we are, and with all we have. We can't claim to love God if we ignore what he has done, or treat it as optional. Loving one another is the 2nd greatest moral imperative, so it's more important to love the creator of humans than it is to yield to the varying opinions of humans who don't like it when you honor God. Since God gave me the physical and mental faculties to build marble runs, then no marble run I build can ever be completed without the gifts he has given me. So as maestros of creativity, it is only appropriate to invite one's heavenly father to the concert which we play by living every moment of our lives.

Couldn't agree more about the loose fitting of Gravitrax parts. Such a shame :(
I had marbles launching other marbles from GraviTrax volcano extensions. The GraviTrax volcano sometimes launches the marble upward so that it doesn’t roll neatly into the exit track if the track is tilted downward. Same thing if the exit tile is placed at a height below the volcano exit. That’s what happened here. Due to space limitations, I had to place tiles below the exit of the volcano. Sometimes the marbles being launched by the volcanoes did not roll into the track.

The tall sections are based on pillars/towers that are in the Gravitrax Pro Vertical Starter Set. Most of the rest of my sets are the Obstacle Starter Set, but any starter set will do. Then I have lots of the individual add-on elements like Scoop, Hammer, additional Magnetic Cannons, and Jumpers. Check out my playlists for unboxings and also "Set vs Set" comparisons of some of the GraviTrax starter sets. When you think Ravensburger designs Gravitrax Bad, why do you play with Gravitrax and buy so much Gravitrax? 🤨
@MaskedMarble2 жыл бұрын
Because the idea is brilliant. It’s just the implementation that is poor. I bought most of my sets when they were available on clearance, before I had discovered its engineering/production faults. So the limitations were not discovered immediately, but only over the course of time. The poor implementation of the GraviTrax system’s brilliant design is incrementally revealed, as each time my ideas for a GraviTrax build are hampered by these issues. For example, I thought it would take me only 3 days to build a 21 minute track. But 16 days later, I realized that almost a week of my life was wasted by having to troubleshoot and redesign areas of the track that would fail, not due to design of the track, but due to random failure of action stones. A magnetic cannon might work just fine for 19 times, but the 20th time the incoming ball hits perfectly in the center of the magnet, and the outgoing ball shoots much harder, and careens off the track. And this reveals that the contours of the tracks built into the white tiles are too wide, and allow for the marble to wander from side to side within the track, ensuring the marble takes a different (inconsistent) path every time. These are little things that are revealed not in small builds, but over time in the larger builds. Since I have already made the investment, and I still like the modular approach of GraviTrax, and still have many ideas, I keep building. But I find it frustrating every time a marble goes sideways at a junction tile, or every time a scoop, flip, or hammer loses too much of its torque to wasted energy because the white base of the action tile rotates on top of a stack of height stones, which do not hold the action tile firmly in place. And that lowers the action stone’s output enough to cause the marble to stall. It’s as if the GraviTrax system is placing limitations on itself. I see its potential for greatness, but while building I am repeatedly disappointed by the reality of pieces that just needed a little more thought invested into their design. Anyone who owns Lego bricks can tell the difference in quality regarding the fit between pieces of Lego and GraviTrax. I keep mentioning it for 2 reasons: 1. So Ravensburger will realize that an overarching redesign of GraviTrax is necessary. 2. So buyers of GraviTrax will known what they are getting. GraviTrax sets are expensive! The quality and design should be better for what you pay. These are not $30 sets. They are $130 sets. Lastly, keep in mind that I have done much to promote the GraviTrax play system, at no cost to Ravensburger. Many in the USA are not aware that GraviTrax exists. Yet I am aware of dozens of Americans who have purchased GraviTrax as a result of my promoting the system. And my investment in my own collection is over $10,000. Therefore I have earned the right to reveal GraviTrax’s problems, in a hope that Ravensburger begins to take its designs seriously. They could hit a home run if they tried. They could make GraviTrax the Lego system of marble runs. But it is not that. The engineering issues are many: There is a flat spot at the exit of the splash pad where marbles stall, so Coogelbahn has designed a better ball catcher that is everywhere sloped, with no flat spots. The stackable height tiles sometimes stick together, but most of the time are loose, so I have to tediously add mounting putty between each tile. Flips, scoops, and hammers sitting on these loose tiles will lose their energy in wobbling. Junction tiles stink when placed after a magnetic cannon; slow motion reveals that the cannon shoots a marble so that it bounces around from side to side before it settles down, and so the sideways path of the junction tile will catch the edge of the unsettled marble, leading to failure. Since this is the case, why is there not a straight tile? Why do we all use the straight tile from the tunnels set, or a 3-in-1 merge tile after a magnetic cannon? Because a junction tile will ruin the track. Think of how many takes you must film before the GraviTrax trick works as intended? Wouldn’t it be great if it worked every time?

Also know that I was on the verge of giving up the hobby during this build. It was so frustrating that there was no fun in the building. When the fun is completely gone, I will quit building. Right now, it’s a love-hate relationship.

@@MaskedMarble So I'll start with that first. Gravitrax and Lego are two completely different things that cannot be compared. Lego is not as complicated as Gravitrax. That's why you can't compare these things with each other (by the way, not everything works with Lego Technik). Think about where you're going to invest your $10,000 before you buy it. I notice that discounts attract you very much and you should really be careful. If you think a week of tinkering with a ride is a waste of time, please just stop building gravitrax and find a hobby you enjoy. Every Gravitrax KZbinr contributes to Gravitrax getting its reach and more people know this game, including you. You don't have to think that if you do a project for US residents that nobody forced you to do now you complain about Gravitrax. If you have been building Gravitrax for a long time, you should know that if you build a 20+ minute track, it just takes a little longer than you think. Eric and I are also familiar with it and know what to look out for. You will learn that after a few long tracks. Not everything works directly in life and sometimes you just have to learn. You can't just assemble a car without having done it before. I hope you now understand my opinions

I will continue to push for GraviTrax reform; for it to become what it is advertised to be: a modular marble run system for ages 8-99. Perhaps you have not seen the frustration on children’s faces that I have when they are building in GraviTrax Kids Club and their tower falls down because the pieces fit together too loosely. That is not the smiling faces of children seen in the Ravensburger GraviTrax promotional photos. Lego is the perfect model for GraviTrax. It is a modular building system like GraviTrax. But its pieces are designed and molded with precision, and have been for over 50 years. A precision stick-together fit is a prerequisite for ANY modular building system, and it is precisely what GraviTrax is lacking. So there is no excuse 50 years later for Ravensburger to release sloppy designs. Lego shows what is possible with modular toy design. You say that Technic doesn’t always work. But every Technic gear I have ever used will grip a Technic axle. You don’t find some gears that are snug, and others that aren’t. Don’t forget I am an engineer and know what is possible with product design, development, engineering, test, and production. Yes, it is hard work to produce such a design and bring it to market. Yet a few simple design changes could get GraviTrax height tiles to stick together with consistent friction, and that is worth pushing for. It would solve so many problems. If your vision of GraviTrax is for it to continue to be the sloppy production that it is, you are welcome to keep that vision. But that doesn’t mean my vision is wrong. You see only what it currently is. I see the potential of what it could become. And that vision is worth speaking about. It is worth raising awareness of. I will continue to do so, even if that shatters the idealistic notions that some people may have of GraviTrax. It is worthwhile to level-set the expectations of GraviTrax users with realistic depictions of what GraviTrax is, and what it is not. In some sense we do a disservice to people with our highly polished videos showing all the tricks working, with one or two fails thrown in for comedic effect. What if we showed people what building with GraviTrax was really like, with 80 failed runs and not a single successful run? What if we showed them videos of our creations tumbling to pieces when we accidentally brush a forearm sideways against the edge of a clear platform? Maybe it’s time to step out of our idealism into reality. If there were another modular marble run system out there which had these features, I would switch to it. But since there is not, I will push for improvement of the best system that does exist.

@@Gravibahn settle down, homie! It’s okay that he compared LEGO and Gravitrax. He’s correct in saying that LEGO is very tightly engineered and that Gravitrax is not quite as well designed.
