i love Tiptoe and your channel... thank you for sharing him with us. My question would be: do you ever worry that he could get bored or want/need more space? Also, if i'm correct it is pronounced "CARE UH PACE" ☺ Thank you for all you do to keep him happy and healthy! Love your response for the breeding question... there are so many tortoises in captivity, especially sulcatas, and since they live almost 100 yrs, that's a LONG time to sit around waiting for a home 😭

I love your answer about the breeding issue, they are way over bread, most people wouldn’t take care of them correctly, it’s a tough decision but probably the right one. Although, one litter wouldn’t be that bad, if you prearranged possible homes, sanctuary, you could get away with doing it one time. And that would be really awesome. I’m gonna say this again because I always seem to say this, you’re not utilizing the heart shaped shell on his chest plate the best yet. That should be your logo, it should be your brand, and eventually when people see it they’ll know it’s tiptoe without even writing his name. I would immediately buy a sweatshirt or T-shirt or hoodie if that emblem was on it. Would love to discuss marketing with you regarding this, you could raise money for other tortoises, wildlife sanctuary, make money for yourself and tiptoe in your family, it could be extraordinarily awesome.

@Caitlin Doran thank you so much. I will be getting the tape measure out myself so I can see his size. I saw my next-door neighbours tortoise for the first time this year yesterday (not the same breed). Charlie looks like a mini version of Tiptoe. I can't wait to show my granddaughter him later today when she is here, I expect her to reclassify him as a "doggy" every animal that's not a cat is a doggy at the moment lol 😆 anyhoo enough rambling on. One benefit of contacting a few vets can help quite a lot. It helps in case blood is needed etc. I'm sure you'd be happy if Tiptoe got sick and the Vet knew of a couple shelled friends that could help.. I think all exotic pet owners should.

I have a small Russian Tortoise and I have been in love with turtles/tortises all my life. Tiptoe is beautiful and well cared for, so many are a commodity and I applaude you for not contributing to that horrible number of abused creatures🐢❣

Hey Caitlin, I have a parrot. Some vets have a specialty. They have a circuit practice and make house calls. This is more common for bird vets. I would think you could find a bird vet to visit Tiptoe on an annual basis. Send me a note, if you need a name.

Does Tiptoe interact with your dogs much and what do they seem to think of each other?

We let the dogs in the enclosure every once in a while (Grace the pitbull always tries to snag his food). Tiptoe gives them the staredown and occasionally tries to "chase" after them. The dogs don't know quite what to do but overall they tolerate eachother pretty well

He is super open to trying new things but he definitely has his preferences. We have a lemon tree in his enclosure that drops occasionally and oh man he steers veryyyy clear of those
