Audacity record sounds just like any other DAW... it only lacks in functions, but recording is same. If he sent to professional mixers who mixed in a good DAW, then of course it will sound professional if, if he had a decent mic.

Even tho there are plugins like Nectar that's gonna mix it for you, it doesn't sound that professional and to mix it to a really high level, you have to need a lot of knowledge about it. But yes, I do get your point, making a song is really cheap and easy nowadays, but I don't think that's a secret anymore.
