His story is pretty true. He got caught with a gun in 7th grade and was suspended. Then when he came back to school in 8th grade he got in some fights and the school had him switch districts. He dropped out of high school. His brother got shot on his birthday I believe. A lot of his other friends have been murdered. He’s been shot 6 times himself. The dagger on his forehead is in memory of his brother who died along side him.

When this came out this was a banger. We were only like a year and a half into the metro boomin era (and melodic rapping era) and nothing this dark with this type of beat had been mainstream yet. Now for a new comer into hip hop it's totally understandable to not get it at first. Just remember before this (Lil Uzi, lil yatchy, future and young thug we're popping) so this was kinda a return to form(gangsta rap) with a new twist. Love the reactions 🙏

My guy melodic rapping has been around for a minute now. Most notably 808's and Heartbreak from 2008 (Which both Uzi and Juice WRLD have said is a huge influence). There was also Kid Cudi - Man on The Moon in 2009, with Cudi being another pioneer of the melodic sound. Even before that you had T-Pain singing with autotune, which influenced Kanye. Genius has a great video on 808's and Heartbreak's influence on modern rap.
