Great review! I do agree, if you're on a budget then you can't beat the SLX BFS. Use the extra $ to buy a proper rod and / or lures. I own both the Currado BFS and the SLX BFS. They both cast, retrieve, and on a fish feel the same. In my option it depends on where you live, in therms of getting parts if you need them. I don't really care about the extra bearings in the knobs because you can alway put bearings in or buy an aftermarket handle. Thanks for posting.

You will love it, you can takeoff the north magnet to get less brake if you need to

What would you say is the advantage of getting a BFS reel vs something like a standard Curado DC reel that can also throw light lures/bait?

Uhhh with BFS reel you can cast 1/8oz or 3.5g lure or below,

BFS can take light lines, others will cause line dig in if u use less than 20 or 25 lb..with BFS, it can take as low as 4lb line​@TheFishinMortician

Brooo !! At first was not easy, I live in US they have 4 sessions in a year, every session is different bait for bass, but when you know it, it's so much fun and challenging, every time I'm going fishing just like solving a puzzle
