My mum irons in the morning as it is a quiet activity and she gets a lot done without disturbing anyone. I will have to do the same as I wouldn't do it during the day and it hadn't work in the evenings so far in the last 6 months. If I have a good night's sleep, I wake up early and can iron our lovely cotton bedding for a 5* bed experience.

There's not been one phone notification that's ever changed my life. Therefore, it can sit until I'm darned good and ready to check it 😊

I'm checking my phone right now! 😃 I usually do it while I'm waiting for my coffee water to boil. I'm trying to break the habit. I check my phone in the morning because I'm too busy during the day to do it.

I agree! My problem is I can’t see the clock/ time with out looking at my phone 😢. Thankfully, after I figure out the time, I don’t look at the darn thing again unless I get a notification of a call or a text. I respond to these because we have a child living outside our home. Moms worry about our children living outside our home. 🫤🤷🏻♀️

Great ideas. I know so many individuals who do not have clocks in their homes and use their phones as alarms, therefore more difficult to avoid phones and all that they bring with it.

I think that if they use their phones intentionally, it would make a huge difference! It's the mindless scrolling and some apps that waste time that may potentially ruin a morning.

I got used to not checking my phone first thing in the morning, even when I use it to set my wake up alarm. Yes, I do quite some of the things you mention, and they work. The challenges are in controlling your impulse and being focused in your morning habits.
Great video. People need to hear your words of wisdom. You are doing a great job.

I just have to say that the ending shot with you standing on the round hills of grass is quite intriguing to me. I look at it carefully because it seems fake and this evening I figured out why it seems fake to me. It is because I am from Texas, and my brain finally caught up and said where are the mesquite trees?!?

I check my phone to 1. turn off my alarm (I usually wake up before it goes off,) and to check the outdoor temperature. Seeing how cold or warm it is mentally prepares me for the morning cold bath on the back porch. But now that I don't have to worry about windchill, you make a good point that it adds unnecessary stress. Maybe I can deal with the temperature the way it is. I had done so all winter long, after all - and now it's lovely outside!

I think it's key to have plenty of planned morning time to just wake up and start your day. 2 hrs is my magic number. My whole day is crazy if I jump out of bed throw clothes on and head out the door in a rush.

Thinking about getting an old fashioned alarm clock so my phone can be in another room overnight. I just worry “what if someone has to get ahold of me in the middle of the night for an emergency”? So hard now that we don’t have a landline. Any thoughts?
@ilektrakaratasiou3352 Жыл бұрын
Are you on call for emergency services? If not, what can be more important than your sleep. Perhaps the death of someone (but then they are already dead). I turned all alarms and sound off or else the thought of something possibly waking me up is stressing me too much to relax at night. At least at night we have the right and privilege not to be disturbed.

Waaaaiiiit a sec, I grab my phone to turn off my alarm and check the forecast as soon as I awaken, does this count? I'm a live in caregiver to my dad and grandad and I'm raising 2 young daughters, and so the next 1.5 hours after waking , I am caring for others. Only after that will I sit down with coffee and phone.

I know you are right about checking my phone, but I use it to track my sleep patterns and it’s also my wake up alarm. I try to put it back down after I turn the alarm off, but not always successful. Note: tried using Alexa for wake-up alarm, but the voice makes the dogs start barking and that’s stressful for me.

I feel like when I play my games, I do that quite intentionally. When I WANT to kill time and just get lost for a short while in something fun. It feels diff to me than dealing with social media, email or messages or anything to do with other people. Me and my games are a lot more like “alone time” and “rest my brain” time. I purposely stay out of “group games” or in any game I don’t join groups, Bcuz I just want to be alone with it. And I really only have 2 or 3 total anyways. Been playing the same games for years on end. Lmao. One is also a word game so I feel like it’s helping me stay sharp much like when I used to do crosswords. “Puzzles” help me relax my highly analytical mind that is always going to be “processing” something no matter what. So I just direct it to something like a puzzle so it can “recharge.” My mornings are more like make coffee, feed animals, go potty, quick tidy and make bed, drink coffee. And that’s where the games come in. It’s my “coffee down time.” I also may after that hop on YT to watch something short and educational or inspiring…such as this video during coffee time. I think also it has a lot to do with content. If my devices are “clean” and streamlined, then I don’t have as much to weed through…such as to find something good to watch that isn’t really like watching TV TV..which I reserve for the end of the day. I actually need my phone to remember what day it is, check the time, the weather and so on.

Not me. I barely check it during the entire day. If it's really important, the police will come to your door. Otherwise, it can wait. I do check emails but not on an urgent basis. I have other things to do.
