Two decades ago, I was following the career of a fellow German, in the junior formulas. That kid was Seb. But guess who I discovered? A young Lewis Hamilton 😂. He must have been 18 or 19. At that moment I knew Lewis was him. That kid had speed like I had never seen before. Raw speed. The way he places the race car entering or exiting corners. With which speed. I was in awe of his race craft at that age. At that moment I thought if this kid could just get an F1 seat. 3 years later he got that seat. 17 seasons after getting that seat, let that sink in, 17 seasons, he's still him. The best I've seen in the four decades of astutely following F1. I never liked Ferrari, even when another fellow German dominated that by-gone era. But things come full circle, Lewis started his career in Italy, he's going to end it in Italy as a Ferrari driver. How befitting. He made me a Ferrari fan. Is he the GOAT? Absofuckinglutely.

No he got the seat because Montoya retired voluntarily, leaving both the team and sport. McLaren lost both of its drivers from 2006 as Raikkonen left for Ferrari to take Schumacher's spot. This opened up both McLaren seats. Anyone who actually followed Hamilton prior to the hybrid bs era (and to a greater extent) prior to his higher formula career knows about Aerocart, and later Dennis and Eccelstone pumping millions into a struggling driver in his earliest years racing. Before he was bought the best carts, he was far from any "legendary prospect."

Abu Dhabi 2021, Crashgate 2.0 well organized heist of a WDC. Had Hamilton pitted for fresh tyres, Verstappen would have stayed outfor track position, the rules would have been followel to the letter T, and the race end under safety car with Verstappen the winner. Hamilton stayed out for track position and all the rules were broken to deny him the win.

Alongside Schumi, Lewis is the most complete driver I've seen. He set the tone by being lightning fast in his debut season and eventually becoming faster than his WC teammate Alonso who was considered the best F1 driver at the time. So much so Alonso threw his toys out of the pram and left. His single lap qualifying was outstanding and his on-track race craft was imho the best I've seen. There's been drivers that were just as fast as Lewis, but when it comes to overtaking, blocking, sticking elbows out, race restarts, a fast in-lap, a fast out-lap and those championship laps... there's none as consistently high standard as Lewis. He was disgracefully denied a historical 8th title by race director "Michael" that clearly violated racing and safety car rules seemingly just to screw Lewis(perhaps a Max fanboy or Bernie had a word). His team also butchered a 9th title in the closing season where Kimi pinched it. I say all of this not as a big Lewis fan(I don't like sportsmen that lecture people on politics and environmental issues etc, they really can't afford to!) but can certainly admire the racer.

@@ananthu8534 Most of 2022, all of 2023 and up until Spain 2024, Max was the exact same 41 victories from 54 races is all the evidence you need. The car was the quickest in the field and built around him. Then when the car lost all its performance in 2024, he reverted back to the Max of old............. but then he managed to find his head and in my opinion his two remaining victories this season (especially the drive in Sao Paulo) were more credible than anything that he won earlier in the year and in 2023. The quickest driver/car combination will most of the time, come out on top. The question you need to ask yourself, is would Max or Lewis have won the drivers championship driving Lando's McLaren The answer is an obvious yes............... and thats the difference between both Max and Lewis verses other drivers. Even an aging Alonso would have won on several occasions and done a great job in that car. We want a competitive championship, not a 2000s Ferarri, a 2010-13 Red Bull, a 2014-16 Mercedes or a 2023 Red Bull because it becomes a borefest

Au Dhabi 2021 -- You purposely left out that the F1 rules were broken illegally. Which is why NO objective journalist says Max won that. Sure it Max just took advantage but rules are rules. Lewis won that. You should have kept that part in your video instead of conveniently cutting it out. FIA ended up apologizing to Hamilton directly and said they got it wrong. In 2022 the very same thing happened in Monza and this time F1 followed their own rules and you got to see how AD21 was supposed to end. Brundle/Crofty talked about this on air and explained AD21 and how Lewis was the real WDC21 winner.

The only fair thing we can say about Hamilton is that he is one of the best drivers ever in F1. You really can’t compare the different era’s as equally in car specs , tire grip , track specs , driving skill/style demands and so on. BTW I don't think Lewis should have conceded that robbery by race director Michael for his 8th title, nor been uncharacteristically quiet about it either. There was many a time throughout his career where Lewis was an insufferably mouthy whiner about various things, as is often the nature of these ultra-competitive types and it's that what drives them to be that bit better than the rest of the competition(along with natural talent too obviously), but the way he was literally robbed in such a transparently obvious way was nothing short of one of the most disgraceful, disgusting and dark moments in F1 history imho and I've seen a lot of bs over the decades! Both Lewis and Mercedes should have vocally blasted what happened and appealed it, drag all the media in on it. Sure, it might not have reversed the outcome but maybe it would have if racing rules were clearly not adhered to which they weren't.
