Are you still thinking about doing lessons? :)
@mehmehmeh36010 ай бұрын
You and a guy named "Fugax Contrapunctus", have done a really great job at trying to revive Bach-Style compositions, and prove to the world that it isnt impossible to at least get near to his heights (it seems that there hasn't been many compositions of this style supported by the old institutions and musical schools). I hope this trend Continues!

I like this and I could imagine a similar project with the three themes from Contrapunctus 14 plus the 14 note ornamented variation of the Art of the Fugue theme.

There are already some completions. A few composers have already done that. One variant was recorded by the Netherlands Bach Society. Check out their arrangement and recording of the Art of Fugue: it's a feast for the ears!
@mehmehmeh36010 ай бұрын
I have a question. I see the multiple themes in Red, Pink, Blue, and Green, but how are the non colored note sequences formatted? I see that some of those sequences seem to be inversions of some of the themes, like an inversion of the blue theme in some parts of the fugue, but is there a format to "tie together" the main themes so that they fit? I tend to be always stuck on sections like 1:39 , where it just keeps going and going, without finding a way to find a transition to the next subject. I dont have any experience in these, but I'm curious on to how these fugues work. Thank you!
@thebachemulationproject326810 ай бұрын
Thanks for your question. First you need to know what's the departure key and the destination key. When your modulation is done, make sure to increase intensity right before you resolve into the subject. That's a good way to stop. It's very hard to explain this on a message, I'm missing many things. If you have few experience I do not recommend to take this fugue as an example, it will be misleading. Analyze Bach's Invention in C Major for instance.

I deleted my comment because I no longer agree with what I had written. I wasn't in my right mind when I wrote my nasty comment because my cold was at its peak at the time and I was a bit grumpy as a result. I sincerely apologise. Of course I know your other fugues and I like almost all of them and because they are more original than this one, I simply and meanly wrote on without giving it a second thought. I have now made up for this and deleted my comment. So don't stop writing fugues and other contrapuntal works because of a shitty person like me! Fugal writing is simply one of the most beautiful things one can do, which is why I chose to focus on it when I completed my bachelor's degree in music. Since I haven't done much research on you, it would be interesting to know what your musical background is!

No worries, we all have those off days. I really appreciate you taking the time to reflect. Your decision only says positive things about you as a person. I'm sure your fugues are fantastic, and I hope one day I can listen to them with admiration.
