Great shooting, I never take any of my .177's beyond 60-feet (20-meters or so), admittedly that is as long as I have in the backyard, but still. At a distance like that I would be at a range shooting my powder burner, not a spring-piston rifle.

Seems like you could zero-in a scope, even with the 10 degrees or so of elevation, to get smaller groupings. Maybe need a side mounted scope. With a laser. Or re-make the scope receiver so it could be set for major elevation angles?

Incredible shot! Well done. Although I have had some long rage experience I don't think I could have done that Years ago after cropping my .222R barrel and chamber end (to eliminate wear) I arrived at the rifle club in Perth to shoot a 200m match, expecting to just sight it in with a few sighters. They'd changed the program to 600m😬 I managed to get it close in the sighters allowed but ran out of elevation on the scope. I had to shoot at a small patch of grass up the bank behind the targets. A holdover of 5m 10 shots that could be covered by a hand.

Chubbley cat did that years ago with an HW 100 at 200 yds. What was amazing was she was shooting baked beans tins and the pellets where punching through both sides of the tins from a 12 ft lb UK legal HW100. You have to wonder what ft ib was te pellet was carrying at 200 yds to go through a baked bean tin. It`s a shame she stopped doing Vids. She was great into air Rifles shooting Rats and Target shooting. And was into 4x4 of Roading with a Land Rover. What a Gal.

Hi, I am watching your footages with a great joy. I have a question if you dont mind. I am about to get an air rifle (4.5 mm calibre). I have three options in my mind. I could not understand which one is more powerful, the numbers on the internet are confusing. Which one do you suggest me and why? The first one is Air arms pro sport , the second one is Diana Mod 54 Airking, the third one is Daystate PCP. Thank you very much, cheers.
@Nwest8212 жыл бұрын
Nice! I should try this with my simple under-lever BAM B-4, spring piston, air rifle with a basic 4x32, "Adjustable optics" scope, that has no "holdover" mill dots, just a standard crosshair. But at 238 yards, I think I'll start by putting 4 reactive targets together side-by-side, before I move down to just one small reactive target. And I'll probably need at least a tin of pellets. I think I'll use .177cal, 8.3gr, RWS Superdome pellets. RWS makes very accurate, quality controlled pellets.

200 yds. is hard to believe, but not impossible. The question is the utility of aiming so far outside (above) the scope line to reach such distance. To make these shots, one has to test and re-test the arc angle of the muzzle until it is right on...And that is without wind. I don't see that as very useful when, for example, hunting small game. In contrast, I have found that distances of 100 yds. can still be manged within scope limitations (4x32 wide aperture scope). I use the Black Ops break barrel sniper rifle for my pellet rifle of choice. I have hit soda cans at 105 yds. with 10 to 15 knot winds, using only scope adjustments. The velocity is still high using Winchester .177 cal, 9.68 grain lead pellets. You need a heavy pellet like this to travel this distance with any wind, still remain true, impact with power enough to penetrate aluminum, and explode a soda can. Unfortunately, I do not have a video of this. I have, however, been inspired by this and other videos to make one. Stay tuned.

I bought a cheap gun for fun today. Shoots .177 at 800fps. Its really accurate but how far do you think it can really fire?
@Valkyrie6129 жыл бұрын
It is more than the fps that determines this. The quality of the weapon, whether it has a rifled barrel, the type and weight of the pellet, all factor in. If I were to venture an educated guess at 800 fps, assuming you are using a quality weapon with a rifled barrel, I would say 75 yds...That's with no wind, and assuming you have a 4x32 scope that has an elevation and lateral (windage) range large enough to adjust to that distance and scope it in.
@noahstrong80829 жыл бұрын
Accurately, 30-40 yds
@trickcyclists9 жыл бұрын
Valkyrie612 If the pellet leaves the rifle at 800 feet per second, it doesn't matter a jot about the rifling, quality of air rifle, or the weight of the pellet. Once the pellet has LEFT the barrel, if it is doing 800 fps then what does it matter what rifle it came out of? All it knows is that it's flying at 800 feet per second. It will fly just as far as a pellet from a £1000 rifle or a £50 rifle. Nerdy asked how far it would really fire, not it's maximum accurate range. And if you regularly shoot at live animals at 75 yards you ought to give up air rifle hunting. I agree with Noah Strong, about 40 yards is a maximum for most humane hunters. If you let fly at 75 yards you will wound far more than you kill. Please stop it.
@trickcyclists9 жыл бұрын
+Der Hurtige That's right, if two bullets are flying at 800 fps, then the heavier is likely to have a greater total range. This is not to say it will be more accurate, necessarily, just have a greater total travel distance. There is lots of evidence to show that a bullet from a rifled barrel will travel further than the same bullet from a smoothbore, if both have the same velocity... because it is less likely to tumble and thus will suffer far less aerodynamic friction and drag... (To say nothing about accuracy of course !! )
@trickcyclists9 жыл бұрын
+Der Hurtige I must have misunderstood something Der Hurtige... are you telling me that you can hit a football from 3 miles away with a 50 cal?? Three miles away?
