21st Century Shooting Concentricity Gauge with Wheel

Here I am in the middle of this Covid 19 mess trying to reload some ammunition. 21st Century promised to ship this concentricity tool in 4-6 weeks. It arrived in one week and, it's better than the video shows. Happy, happy, happy.

Allow me, Concentricity is a means to measure if your die, as in the sizing die is in fact coaxially centered to the axis of the bore of the barrel and the chamber had been and has been maintained centered to the bore as well, Therefore the needle with dial should bare on the body of the cartridge case near the shoulder, rather then on the neck. Barrels do rust and chambers have become rusted too, and there are gunsmiths who try to salvage rusty barrel chambers by the use of tools that erode the chamber in the process to remove the rust, rather then remove the barrel and cut off some barrel and then rethread the barrel to cut a new chamber. Runout is the means to measure the amount of being off center a bullet is to a chamber at the neck of the case. The needle point would normally be placed at the ogive of the seated bullet in the cartridge case. A bullet that leans off center a few thousands isn't going to be noticed down range at 150 yards, but will be noticed at 300 yards or further down range.

In your opinion for a guy who isn’t trying to compete in long distance shooting sports. Would say the Redding slant concentricity gauge be suitable instead of this unit. I also was considering purchasing 21st century’s mini lathe for neck turning. I have a few cartridges that would probably work a lot better if I neck turned them. Such as 308 Winchester cases I reformed into 35 Remington as well as 223/556 into 300 black. I think neck turning would help me with better 308 Winchester mixed cases in combination with my cast powder coated projectiles. But I’m extremely new to reloading compared to guys like yourself. At best I have 3 years experience in reloading and all of has been learned via KZbin and reading.

If there's significant bullet run out, how do you correct it for that particular cartridge? I understand that long term correction is by re-visiting dies, press and other issues....my question relates to cartridges that have already been loaded. Thanks.

can you show a video where the runout is bad or cartridge is bad? that would help as well.

can you adjust the indicator arm seen at 0:52 in fine adjustments so that you can bring the spindle to touch the brass/bullet at exactly the right point rather than pressing on it with your fingers? I noticed a screw adjustment possible on the one made by CTK.

How much run out did the case in the video have? The reason I ask is that I want assurances that this is easy to determine.

I don't get it. You're going to fire-form the case anyway. The important thing is wall thickness in the neck.

Yes. There's a threaded hole to thread the post stop in the furthest position to handle such cartridges.

Why not make sure that you are truly saved by Jesus Christ and practice this way. Remorsefully confess with your heart your sins to Jesus Christ who is God and tell Him that you right now are repenting of your sins and you want to be born again of the Spirit from above. Tell Jesus that you are remorsefully sorry for breaking His commandments and that you are begging for forgiveness from Him. Allow His blood from the cross to wash away your sins. After this is done with your heart successfully the Holy Spirit will come to live within you and He will rebuild you from the inside out. Look for signs that you are saved. Things like spreading the good news from Jesus, getting other people saved, a craving for the word of God, reading the Bible, etc… These things are known as a calling and fruit bearing. If you're not bearing fruit then keep doing it. Sometimes it takes time to get saved. Read Matthew chapter 13 from the King James Bible. God bless!!!!!
