Thanks buddy. The are 2 things which I need to add though. The edges where the 2 sheets butt together need to be glued or the ply will warp. Secondly, I used the thin ply because I needed to keep the thickness to a minimum or it would have obstructed the door. In most cases, plasterboard wouod be a better option as it is easier to cut and manage. Best wishes, Des 👍

@@21stcenturycaveman33Thanks brother, built a ladder frame and used 6mm MDF to cover it. 👍🏼

MDF is really good for this and easy to use - until it gets wet - then you have porridge. ATB, Des

@@21stcenturycaveman33Yeah, it’s far enough from the sink and it’s getting painted so it’ll be fine. Cheers.

i think the best way to go is using a plaster board skimme it painted Will blend with the rest off the wall you did fantastic job enjoyed the video.

Thanks very much. I did consider using plasterboard which is much cheaper, so much quicker and a doddle to do. Unfortunately. it wouldn't work on this project as there wasn't sufficient space near the door hinges. ATB, Des

Nice job didn’t u fancy using Plasterboard n skim it up after ?👍
@21stcenturycaveman335 жыл бұрын
Hi there. I wondered whether someone would ask that. Definitely another option plus cheaper and quicker. However, the thickness of plasterboard (even the thinner 9mm) wouldn't have fitted at the back of the door where the hinges are. Plus, to be honest the ply is much stronger. Thanks for your query and for watching. Take care, Des

@@21stcenturycaveman33you could've dotted a 9mm plasterboard onto the block nib, ran it through onto the frame work and screwed it the remainder of the board.

Would have liked to know how to build the frame.

Hello there. Fair point that. Unfortunately, due to time constraints (I also work full time) I couldn't film everything. Sorry about that. Thanks for tuning in Christopher. ATB, Des

Doing all that work but leaving the parallel going pipe is somehow strange concept to me. Why wouldn’t you box that one in too once you’re at work.
@21stcenturycaveman335 жыл бұрын
Hi there. I didn't box in the parallel pipe at the time because I was going to re-route it. Since that time though I've had a re-think and left it in the same position. Given this, I would box it in as you've suggested if I had to do it again. Best wishes, Des

You’re not really going to have access to the soil pipe however with a central heating pipe you may need to remove in future hence why I wouldn’t box in either or if I did I would be using access point screws on box for easy removal. Cheers 🍻

Would using plasterboard make it easier to decorate or would the door keep hitting it.

Wood glue along the panel join? Stronger join and ensures no paint cracks?
