Greetings from south africa. Enjoy your videos. That 22-250 used here mostly for varmit hunting. Jakal, geese, baboons and so . They are great springbuck calibre for the flat trajectory on the plains and minimal meat damage.

My father in law's favorite and only deer rifle. He passed away a little over a year ago. He always said. That Remington High performance rifle 55 grain was rather cheap and would drive nails inside 400 yards. He said he killed many deer with a neck shot out to 600 yards. He was also a marksman in the U.S. Army back in the 60's and 70's. My step dad was a scout sniper back in Vietnam and he says the 7.62x51 or .308 is the most accurate. I think both are accurate, but I also think the .308 would have way less wind drift at longer ranges.

It's a great whitetail round up to 200 with the right bullets and powder. I would bet my life on it. The hydro static shock of a 55 grain 22-250 will kill a deer before he hits the ground its quite amazing.

Ima gonna say shooting anything other than a few 100 yards with the light ammo is fine but at longer range the heavier the bullet the better. That 35 grain bullet at 500+ yards is gonna be really tuff if any winds blowing.

I would give those Partition 60's another try. Start with a cold bore group. The first shot on a deer is from a cold bore. Nice video! Keep'em coming my friend!

I have a 308 I play around with at longer distances. The cold bore and 4 more are outstanding if I do my part. Its the fouling shot after a thorough cleaning that is consistently high left. At 600 yards it is about 4 inches high and 1 1/2 to 2 inches left of bullseye consistently. After that one shot everything falls back into outstanding groups. Honestly 9 or 10 consecutive shots give a more honest evaluation of the weapons accuracy.

I ran a similar test the other day with my 22-250 with the only ammo I found available locally. With the Hornady Superperformance Varmint 50 gr. V-MAX I was shooting a 0.25 groups at 100 yards. And with the Winchester Varmint X 55 grain I was shooting 0.33 groups. Then with both brands I was constantly hitting my 8" gong at 200, 280 and 350 yards. So coyotes..be aware 😁

Great video and comparison of the 3 different loads. It’s always fun, but can be somewhat expensive finding the right load and weight the the firearm likes.Your right about the 35 gr projectiles, any wind will push them all over the place, but they will be incredibly devastating on vermin at the shorter distances.

Just thinking out loud here, our instincts tell us the 35 grain won’t hold up against the wind but I think he said it was traveling at +5000 feet per second, dang! That’s significantly faster than the 55 -60 grain projectiles. That’s closing in on Mach 5. I am curious how long it stays above 3000 - 4000 FPS. If it’s 1000 yards it might be a dark horse if like someone mentioned you can factor in the spin which will likely make it curve a bit. The time of flight could be real short and the wind wouldn’t have much time to work on it. It would be interesting to see if our intuition is right or if physics has pulled the wool over our eyes.

What's the twist on your barrel? Typical is 1:14 on 22-250s, but that isn't fast enough to stabilize bullets more than about 55 gr., I believe. For 55-63 gr. the preferred twist is 1:12. Bullet shape and length (as with all copper construction being longer for their weight than those with lead cores), will vary these a bit.

I'm wondering what your twist rate is? If you're running a one in 12 I've heard 60 grains won't quite stabilize that might be why the nosler wasn't that good. I think you need a one and eight for like 60 grains and up but the one in 12 is excellent for 55 and smaller I'm guessing by that ragged hole you had with the 35 grain you must be running a 1 in 12 or maybe even a one in 14. I'm thinking about getting the Sako 85 varmint Walnut 22 250. Online it says it's available 1 and 12 they have an option for a one in eight with the 223 I'm hoping I can get a 22-250 in 1 in 8 twist I'd like to be able to shoot the heavier bullets. Thank you that was fun 👍

But if you got a decent scope out to 600 yrds, i wouldnt be afraid to send a few rounds to try it. I think youll be surprised how far those rounds will go. I know you know what you are doing, so please don't take this wrong, but it's been my experience that if your shot moves left or right when you adjust the up/down turret, the scope may not be level with the receiver. When you were adjusting down all your shots moved to the right as well. That might not be what's happening here, but it might be worth looking at especially if you are going to be adjusting up to shoot at 1000 yards.

I would have still used the Noslers, when I’m shooting long range I like the heaviest bullet I can use in my gun. I live in SW Oklahoma and wind here will take a light bullet sight seeing in the next county if you’re not careful. The winds here on average are around 18-25mph or more, if it’s not blowing it’s kinda eerie.

You need to check your scope parallax it could be the reason you are getting weird results.

Who Tee I think you are going to try to use this rifle at a 1000 yards. You’re going to need a minimum of 23 MOA/ 233 inches in your scope the round has to be at 3850 FPS. Your 308 is going to need 48 MOA. 7mm Rem will need 33MOA that’s what the army’s Bullet Flight tells me. They probably don’t use it anymore Hey good luck.

Seriously, I'd guess the heaviest bullet would be the best at 1000 yards. The lighter bullets may start faster, but they'll slow faster, and be more sensitive to wind currents. Not that I'm an expert at 1000 yard shooting, but from what I do know, that's what I think would be the case.

Would like to hear your feedback on how 1,000 yards went. Also, you hunt deer with 22-250? Here, you must use .243 or larger. Last, if you glass bed your CVA rifle in the stock it might take out some of that variability in accuracy. I highly recommend glass bedding.

Bedding is a thing of the past. Not needed. Video of 1,000 yard shooting will be out in a few days

In TN we can deer hunt with 22 caliber if it is centerfire. Drops them in their tracks
@dgreenapple

@@WHOTEEWHO With all due respect, I highly disagree. Bedding has made some very expensive rifles of mine that were shooting inconsistent groups change over to sub-MOA rifles (in one case, sub-1/2-MOA). Bedding yields the biggest improvement for the smallest effort and cost.

If I can consistently hit at 1,000 yards - nothing additional need be added to the rifle. If I was shooting in the Olympics and it was my job, then okay maybe.

What's the twist rate on your Cascade? If it's 1-10, you might get decent groups from 68-70 grain bullets...worth a try anyway.
