It would have been cool if you added the black backed jackal to this list. Fossil records indicate the black backed jackal is the oldest surviving member of its genus, existing even before the gray wolf and long before the domestic dog. The black backed jackal has also barely changed its appearance over time and has roamed the African plains as a successful predator for millions of years.

how did the sponge make the list but Pyura chilensis didn't? This is a legit question, not trolling, their both filter feeders that have been around forever and you can eat at least 1 of them so I'm guessing it's an animal/plant of some sort.
