oh ya, I remember MTD made a batch of snowblowers that used a brass gear to drive the wheels. obviously designed to fail. there's a few videos of mechanics who tried to open the gear box and a bunch of sparkly gold oil poured out of it and they were like "what the hell?" The brass gear just shaved itself down to nothing and turn the oil to gold glitter hahahahahahaha. You're the first mechanic I've seen to actually replace the gear. All the others replaced the whole drive assembly. then they told their viewers "DON'T BUY THIS SNOWBLOWER" hahahahahahaha

do the 22 inch 2 stage snowblowers actually blow snow? I've lost count of how many videos I've seen of this model, and NONE of them show them blowing snow! Every video shows them just sitting there. I assume they're shit because they were all discontinued years ago.

Fair assumption, final product made it as my thumbnail. I figured footage of it in action would be lackluster. This little thing did a better job than my 42 year old craftsman 26" 2 stage, but not as good of a job as a new 24" Ariens. Basically better than a shovel. Throws 4" of wet snow 15'. Haven't tried it with powder yet but I imagine it will throw powder 25' +. Better than I though for a bite size snow blower. Cheers :)

I have the older version of this machine which has a 5 horse Tecumseh engine because it was made before Tecumseh went out of business. Mine was never that good at blowing wet heavy snow and it was pretty much useless for end of the driveway stuff. Older snow blowers of a similar size that were made in the 90s tend to do a much better job even though they also have the same five horse Tecumseh engine. If you can get your hands on a Toro 521 I think that's the best small two-stage snowblower even though it hasn't been made in several years.

That’s a fair comment, didn’t have any snow at the time. Works well on dry to and wet snow. Does not like slush at all. Cheers!
