Would you Date a Woman with $15,000 of debt?

Hell no, I’m getting out of my debt, why would I date someone with debt, especially dumb debt like 10k+ of debt over shoes or something stupid. Also, don’t go into debt helping others with the promise they will pay you back, chances are they won’t and they did it to other “friends “ to maintain their lifestyle

I don’t think even an ironclad prenup can protect you against an irresponsible woman. She will drain your money, and there will be no money left to share during divorce. Or she will drain your energy or the space in your house. You may need a larger house because of her. But you can date her: She will think it’s free money and pay for your dinner 😅

I'm 100% debt free included my house. Lived like I was broke for years to do it. I'll never be a long term indentured servant again, and have found a whole ton of women with zero debt beyond our shores by visiting in person. Never again will I take on a relationship that brings me back to indentured servitude. Never!

Coworker called off his wedding when he found out his fiancee was in 189k in debt. 89k is student loans the other is credit card debt. She actually told him it's no big deal you make good money we can do this. He told her he wasn't going to accept her debts so he called off the wedding. He then realized she was just pressuring him to marry her after he called it off. Since she wasn't willing to file bankruptcy to eliminate her credit card debt at least. He just broke up with her. As he said that the whole let's get married and then she would have access to his credit. As he said he had no intention of becoming financially stable to be destroyed by the person who is supposed to add to stability.

That is an insane amount of non-student loan debt! Just so you're aware, there ARE a lot of men like this too, but much lower %. I felt like an enormous weight came off me when I divorced my ex-H and realized his >$200k of student loans he had 0 intention of ever paying off despite a $200k annual salary, + like $25k of CC debt that he definitely would pay off. But the additional >$400k mortgage I got out of my name in the divorce as he kept the house, as HE was the single parent while I'm childfree.... It looks all put together on the outside in his case, but I've been able to pay off my personal debt SO much easier without him in my life. He was a spendaholic but perceived himself to be perfect with $$ because he made it appear that way. Today there's no way he has less than $600k total debt. I feel better without a mortgage. And with my career that's been so much better without all that drama and stress in my life.

I do have a finance degree, and also economics. A couple of rules that would benefit most people: 1. Never finance depreciating assets. Cars are a good example of this. 2. College isn’t for everyone. There’s money available for those that can pull grades. If you need a loan for college (i.e., you can’t pull grades), then college REALLY isn’t for you. Trades pay very well. Trade schools actually pay you to attend. 3. Don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched. As an example, don’t spend anticipated windfalls before the money is actually in your pocket. In other words, don’t spend money you don’t have. You can use debt to finance appreciating assets. Houses are typical example of an appreciating asset. 4. Invest in your future and in yourself first. If you’re working for a company that offers a 401k, take advantage of it, especially if they offer a match. At a minimum, enough to get the match (not doing so is just leaving free money on the table). If you can’t max out, increase your contribution annually until you do max out, and keep doing so. Not working for a company with a 401k? Start an IRA and, again, max it out. 5. There’s nothing wrong with using credit cards as long as you pay them off monthly, and follow the above rules. Don’t waste money on frivolous things.

Also hubris can become a pitfall, thinking you can "abuse the system" can still get you in debt real bad because you think you know everything. I got divorced at 48 and started dating. One of the first girls I dated was 36. The morning after the first night I spent at her house, a debt collector called her home and his message played on her answering machine. As a banker a few observations. 1. Compound interest is the 8th wonder of the world always be on the correct side of it (savings building savings rather than debt increasing debt) 2. An attractive woman going into debt to dress well and attend the right places can be an optimum strategy if that bags a rich husband who settles your debt 3. A very big source of marital strife is men attempting to stop their wives running up debt. 4. Women actually see men trying to stop them spending beyond their means as a problem rather than the lack of money being the problem. 5. Women actually believe that by getting rid of the husband who had been preventing her from spending money they did not have will allow her to spend more rather than less

Most of my friends who ended up being in a bad marriage had GOOD girls that were into them in highschool but they turned those girls down because they didnt have a big enough butt or whatever small reason. You cant always have your cake and eat it too. I notice a lot of men actually want the p0rnstar but they claim they want a girl with traditional values. Seemed like a good investment at the time. I'm in the process of selling now. It will sell for almost 5x what I paid. But when you look at maintenance, taxes, and all the tons of little expenses, I'm not sure if it was a wise investment. I'm putting the $500k I'll be getting from it in CDs later this year. I'm building a tiny house and just gonna live off grid. The money I'll get from the investments, plus the money I'll save in texas and bills, plus a small stipend I'll get for caretaking the land I'm putting my house on, will net me almost another $7k per month. @@OnBakePlatinum Yes, this is true. My best friend is the richest person I know and he does this. 100% of his bills and monthly expenses all go on one card. He pays it off every single month and earns thousands of free dollars every year. However, I know my limitations. I'm not a type-A person. I'm a laid back hippie and a procrastinator. And I know for a fact that I'd forget to pay off my card on time once in a while. If you screw it up and pay a day late even once, the fees can cancel anything you've earned. Also, I'm VERY fearful of a financial collapse, either at the persona level or the national level. It's a product of having four grandparents who survived the great depression. So even carrying debt for just a few days causes me enormous levels of stress and worry. There's no amount of rewards that could make it worth it for me because of that. So just a few thousand extra dollars at the end of the year would literally mean nothing to me. Being free of stress is priceless. :)

Credits cards are like fire. A good servant, but a bad master. Control your spending, set a low max on the card. Pay for food, clothing items, gas, electronics etc with it. That gives you a good overview on your spending and shows if you are going overboard within the month. Pay bills for electricity, accomodation, phone, internet, TV etc from your regular account. ALWAYS have your credit card set to be automatically paid off from your main account. This way you can enjoy the benefits at absolutely no cost to you.

Whoa. Never set a bill to be automatically be paid. If they screw up their billing by adding a few zeroes or someone steals your card and goes on a spending spree, the card company will take the money anyway, and good luck ever getting it back when you file a stolen card report. Maybe you'll get refunded in a few months after their investigation. As long as you hold onto your money, you can more easily contest the charges, and cancel your card if they don't find in your favor.

I'm still trying to figure out how 18 year olds are getting a 5k credit limit. When I was 18 (i'm 40 now) the most they would give you is like 250-500 dollar limit until you had established a credit. Hell, half my friends had to do a deposit for their credit card with the bank where they gave the bank 250 dollars and they gave them a 250 credit limit until they established a credit report. Mind you that 250 was given back to them in their checking account after a year as it was basically a guarantee to pay off the debt if they missed a payment. Even now with a 770 credit score, they want to see my income/accounts for adjusting my credit limit. It's just mind blowing to me. Maybe it's a credit company I don't use that's just tossing this stuff out like candy lol.

My first credit card gave young people a deal - 0% interest if your balance was under $1000 so you could actually ride with the minimum payment each month and not have your eyes gouged out by interest. Best believe I micro managed that to the max.

40 loans from credit cards?! Over 6k owed per month in credit card debt?! You should be in prison for fraud at that point only you won't be capable of repaying the debt you owe, so it's a lose-lose situation.

If you don’t have a lot of equity in solid goods like a car or home, you are better off to claim bankruptcy and have 7 years of bad credit!!

I've been saving and investing since 2000. Buying clothes at Walmart and making other sacrifices to get to where I am now. I will NEVER let a woman anywhere near my nest egg except to watch me enjoy it.

My wife and I ran up credit card debt. A lot of dumb decisions that compounded themselves. We finally adjusted our spending habits and a few years payed it off. Now we are debt free and since our spending habits have changed we are no longer living paycheck to paycheck. Financial literacy - don’t spend money you don’t have and live within your means.

In the USA, women were not allowed to own Credit Cards without a male co-signer until 1974. Now you see why some fences should never be torn down.

Something I’ve learned about credit score is that if you cancel/cut your credit card your credit score goes down at least 50 points, the longer tou have a credit card your credit score goes up 10-30 points a year

I realized credit cards were evil when I was 18 years old in marine corps boot camp, and one day we randomly took a very uncharacteristic break from training to sit in an air condition auditorium so Navy Fed could give a presentation to my platoon about their credit cards. They even offered “rewards” to those who signed up.

I'm not american but I'm a woman. I've accumulated debt to rebuild my house that was destroyed by a typhoon. It's so hard that sometimes I think resorting to take some gigs and even prostitution crosses my mind that are not so nice but can save me from all of my debts. I live in a 3rd world country and inflation is spiraling out of control where I live. I don't have parents anymore. I'm just literally alone.
