I was a hospital dietitian and I always gave this tip to my patients: open your banana like a monkey. Monkeys don't open them from the stem end, it's much easier from the other end. You'd be surprised how many older people would be sitting there with their banana still on their tray because they couldn't open it and didn't have a knife.

I've been cutting my bags part way along a seam, to leave a strip to tie them. It usually lasts until about halfway through the pack before giving out. This way will definitely be stronger and better.

I like to use rubber bands on my freezer bags (fold the bag tight, the use the RB around the whole bag) Also I like to cut up a big salad for several days, and using the paper towel in bottom of storage bowl and on top without a lid, keeps it fresher longer (depending on the lettuce, I have had it last almost a week with no brown or soggy veggies)

Instead of the scrapper tool I use the tabs off the bread bags. It is handy for craping you gunky pans as well then throw away when Don. I always have bread tags around .

I used the bread hack for years before I stopped buying loaf bread. On bags cut the top strip off and wrap it around the bag and tie a half knot. It works good. I love your videos. Thanks for all you do.

Treat lettuce heads like cut flowers - I put mine in a bowl filled with water (so the stalk is in the water & place it in the veggie drawer in my fridge. Just take it out, remove as many leaves as you need, replace the water and put it back in the fridge. So a head of lettuce lasts 2 weeks easily while staying fresh 😊

I put my hot oil or use up oil into a glass container with lid(pickle jar, olives jar, pasta sauce etc). When it's filled then it goes to the trash (we don't have any way to recycle old cooking oil)
