I loved this ship growing up. I’m a huge Star Wars/Trek fan! But the Eagle was always my favourite Ship followed by Thunderbird 2. Good times ❤

Hey Todd! Giving you another shout out here! I got my pre-assembled/pre-painted Round 2 MPC Eagle 2 Transporter with another set of aluminium rocket motor bells. This Eagle 2 has been done with a WHOLE lot more detail, paneling and interior weathering . This one is really nicely done! Plus, MPC/Round 2 must have heard all the Eagle modeling fans out there and assembled this version of the Eagle with the softer landing pad/strut springs in the outer pods. Really nice and very awesome piece of assembled ans painted kit. I love my Rescue Eagle version, but the Eagle two ( or is it really supposed to be Eagle 1 ) version is just more detailed and really great to look over. I recently found and purdhaased old die-cast, undetailed Alpha moon buggy toy, from 1976/77 that is very close to the scale of the 22 inch long Eagle models. This early die-cast moon buggy has the overall basic look and shape, but is more “squared-off” looking. The “real” moona buggy and its scaled down models are all more curved and rounder looking. I spent days perfecting a set of adhesive stickers/decals for this to really make it look more like the actual moon buggy. These came out pretty well and look good on this small die-cast moon buggy. I loved your Morton museum video. You have a truly awesome collection of Eagles and other Space:1999 merchandise. Watching you Space:1999 Museum/Collector room/“cave”, I got “Eagle Envy” and purchased another 12" Eagle with both removable passenger module and command module/flight module “beak” from sixteen12! That should be coming today and can’t wait to see it and all the other changes to this die-cast Eagle from the ones I purchased, long ago, from Product Enterprises.

That “filtration unit” detail behind the girder work is the rear deck of a WW2 German Panther or King Tiger tank! That SAME detail is also used on the top rear of the Millenium Falcon! 👍😎👍🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧

Beautiful job. The only fault is the springs in the landing gear look a little stiff. I think the eagles on the show colapsed the gear more when they landed. How much are these?

Hi Rick, thanks for the feedback. The newer ones will have better springs. Culttvman has them on sale at $215. www.culttvmanshop.com/Eagle-2-preassembled-DISPLAY-model-22-inches--Space-1999-from-MPCRound-2-_p_4761.html

I'd like to also comment about the landing springs being too stiff for the weight of the ship. They don't collapse at all and the travel tube would never line up!

The screws holding holding on the rescue module really ruin the model, imho. And the pilots are about 8' tall .

Hmmm, it’s modeled after the original screen used filming props. The screws I believe should be painted white. 😉

I found plenty of problems with mine. As I reviewed here. It looks like you got a slightly better “weathered” model than the one I recieved a year later Much of the interior cage details are not weathered enough and blend in too much with the outer cage/framework and you really cannot discern any inerior cage details. Also, the total , ZERO lack of red/yellow/black/checkered color bands around any of the cage/framework members. My Recsue/Medical Eagle just look too “clean” looking and sort of sparse for fine details.
@ToddsCornerScifiPropsShips
@ToddsCornerScifiPropsShips 3 жыл бұрын
Basically, the detail is subjective. It really depends on what generation detail you yourself would prefer. This edition out of the box was detailed primarily from the first time you see the red striped iconic Eagle. I was put off a bit without decal detail on the spine, but later noticed that there was none from the earliest of episodes. Made a believer out of me. By the time Phil Rae got a hold of it, it had quite the details on it before the final restoration. Pick your favorite episode photo and go to town. 🙂

I have no real place to post a review of this fully assembled and painted MPC 22 inch long Space:1999 Rescue/Medical Eagle. So, I found your review of this, so I am going to post my own text review here, along with your video review of this model. I hope you do not mind. For the cost of this model ( plus the additional costs of the optional aluminium rocket thruster cones ), I have found this model a bit of a let down. Sorry. I feel that this model clearly has NOT enough weathering or details in this model, for its size and scale. The model just looks too clean and looks to be assembled as quick as possible with very little extra details added. At this scale, many details that are part of the original 44 inch filming model should have been added to the 22 inch size version. Without more weathering, it is near impossible to see all of the detaiils inside of the Eagle’s cagework. It all just looks the same and many inner details just disappear. This model has absolutely NO red, yellow, black colors and checkerboard details that appear along different parts of the Eagle frame/cage work! The size of this model is plenty large enough to have added, at least, SOME of these color band details. There are NOT any of these on this pre-made rescue Eagle, NONE! My 12” inch Product Enterprise ( PE ) Eagles have a lot of the color bands around the Eagle's frame/cagework. So, why were these left out an expensive $400 U.S.D., 22 inch size Eagle model? Why? Also, simply NOT enough panel detailing in this model. The ONLY thing that appears to be detailed with complete accuracy is the Command Module nose cone! AND Yes, this model feels very lightweight. This model is deceptively very lightweight for its size. The ONLY reason I am keeping this model is that it looks like, more or less, pretty exact to my smaller 12” PE diecast Rescue/Medical Eagle, minus the frame/cagework color bands, and really more readily resembles the 12” PE diecast Eagles, which are, also, lacking any additional panel details and very little weathering to model. The 22 inch long MPC fully assembled Space:1999 rescue/medical Eagle is actually a very close match to the 12” diecast Product Enterprise ( PE ) model replicas. All of that out of the way, it is a very cleanly and neatly assembled and painted model of what is actually done on this model.

This model was based on the first time seen early on in Season 1. Look up the Milton Bradley Space 1999 game from the 70's and the Rescue Eagle photo is what Round2 picked to duplicate. Look at the 18th picture of the rescue eagle on the launchpad at this link and you will see the Prebuilt eagle we have today. catacombs.space1999.net/main/epimghd/tie1.html

@@ToddsCornerScifiPropsShips Okay I see what you mean. This version of the Eagle has had less details applied to it. The model still needs some more “dust and dirt-like weathering though. You cannot make out any of the internal cage/framework details well without shining an external light source over the cages to really see all the internal cage details.
