I have this same bike but the black and bronze and I'm also a beginner (45 years old LOL) and I love this thing!! Very easy to ride and not overwhelming at all just as long as you take your time getting the hang of it. LOVE IT!!

One good thing about the optimistic speedo, is that when you get on a cop's radar gun, your bike shows fast, but in reality, you're right on. My SV, Z900 and V Strom are all reading faster. You kind of get used to it. They have corrective devices, but I'm too cheap to buy it. Anyways, great video and I love SV 650's!

Excellent tutorial. I think its a given anymore on a new bike. Seat, tires, and exhaust all are lackluster. I'm considering an SV650 so thanks for sharing your experience with the bike.

I do try to understand why riders like their bikes to sound loud - like raging tigers - or something, but, personally, I prefer peace and quiet. And I am sure that the people living along the roadside would also like to preserve their peace and quiet, especially the elderly and those working who need plenty of concentration and don't want to be disturbed by noisy traffic outside. Where i live is very noisy and I find it extremely annoying. Yes, you are right, I should move. I am considering that. But a lot of the noise comes from extremely loud scooters in the roads around my place and I am fed up with it.

I live in the country on a mountain ridge and small road. You just can't get away from the noise. Not just motorcycles but pickup trucks and cars with non stock exhaust. People are inconsiderate ediots!

The exhaust I choose was because it wasn't that loud. I live in the suburbs and I ride it to work at 1 in the morning. I'm not trying to upset my neighbors. I do understand where you are coming from. The noise is constant.

Most vehicles I have ever had whether cars or bikes - the speedo reads faster than actual speed usually by 5-8% . . . less risk of getting a speeding ticket. If you want true speed have GPS connected. I have a Garmin XT on my FJR1300 so it gives me the true speed but I tend to ride very sedately most of time so I'm never usually the fastest vehicle on the highway.

Hi there! Thank you for sharing this video. I have the same bike over a year now and I really enjoy it! Question: what is this attached on the left part of the throttle?
@doobasorus420
@doobasorus420 6 ай бұрын
It's a cheap version of cruise control, it's enough to give your hand a break. It's not good enough to hold an accurate speed but does the job. There are a few versions of this.

Have you checked your speed with your GPS on the phone?
@doobasorus420

Yes, the speedometer on the bike reads 5 mph slower than gps speed. I have also used 2 different vehicles to check speed as well and same results. 5 mph slow.
@slipngrip
@slipngrip Жыл бұрын
@@doobasorus420 It should be a percentage, not a fixed 5mph. I have checked a SV650 top speed video on YT and it seems the speedo reads about 7% faster than actual speed. It also means that the odometer reads 7% more distance than what you've actually covered.
@doobasorus420
@doobasorus420 Жыл бұрын
@@slipngrip yes it's off by a percentage. At 70 miles per hour it is off by 5 Miles per hour. And it does change by speed. I do not know the actual percentage it is off by.

I own a 2020 SV650 and it’s my second bike. I was a beginner 3 years ago. I purchased a 2019 Honda CB500F for my first bike. I rode it for about 10 months before I upgraded to an SV650. Hindsight, I wish I’d purchased the SV from the beginning. I love my SV. I had no reliability issues with the CB500F. The only thing I really disliked about it was the gearing ratio. First gear was almost nonexistent. I’d have to change gears fairly quickly while accelerating or else it would get really high into the rev range. By the time I’d reach about 45 mph, I’d be in 6th gear.

@@l-mac5105 If it’s your VERY first bike, and you weren’t advancing quickly, the 500 is a nice bike. Very comfortable. But yeah, the 650 has a bit more potential…

@@troyjollimore4100 Didn’t say it wasn’t a nice bike.🙂👍🏿 The CB500F has a parallel twin engine and the SV650 has a V-twin engine. The performance and sound are different. The V-twin is an upgrade. I actually purchased a 2020 DRZ400SM about 4 months after I purchased my CB500F and rode my DRZ a lot more. It’s a blast to ride and would be a great first bike as well. Then about 5 months later is when i decided to upgrade from the CB500F to an SV650. I still own both Suzuki’s and plan to keep them for a long time. I’ve put about 7000 miles on both bikes so far.

Regarding your Yoshimura. Was that a full system or just a slip on? Did you have to mess with the ECU or O2 sensor if it has one?
@doobasorus420
@doobasorus420 Жыл бұрын
It was just a slip on, took about 15-20 minutes. Didn't have to mess with anything. Direct bolt on, no hassle, nothing else necessary.
@findingneutral
@findingneutral Жыл бұрын
@@doobasorus420 Nice. Really like the not having to mess with the ecu concept. Sound & aesthetics is what I look for, not power gains. I had to go carbon as well on two exhausts due to lack of supply. R&G makes a pretty cool slip on exhaust guard in case of tip overs. Comes in round, oval, and hexagonal. Only reason I say is after I posted my carbons someone shared they are prone to cracking easily. Cool bike. The tech and thought Suzuki put into it is impressive. It's very modable with accessories too. Thank you again for sharing this information 🙏
