Good stuff , My non gas checked cast grouped like this until I started sizing to .225 and using a NOE .224 neck expander and a light Lee factory crimp . Your findings are right there with what I've been seeing in my AR until I went to a fatter bullet .

I had some good groups the other day at 50 with varget and un sized bullets. One thing about these rounds, there are almost unlimited possibility's to try.

I'm rooting for you to come up with a great combination ! Cast bullets are a whole different animal.

I get 2/3" groups at 50 yds with the lee 55 grain powder coated not gas checked bullet and IMR 4227 powder with my ruger mini 14. The load isn't powerful enough to cycle my AR15 though. Velocity is around 2200 fps.

Right now I would be happy with that. I'm going to reshoot the good group I had with the Axis, and see if it repeats itself. One thing about it, there are tons of combinations to try with these bullets.

Dude I watch every video you make. Great testing and very detailed I’m glad your doing what I normally do without my interference and getting pretty much the same results. This is important work and I don’t think I’ve seen anyone be as thorough as you are being with cast .223 testing. Nice to see you casting these bad boys and now gas checking. I’ve always wanted someone to validate powder coated cast .223 bullets besides me. As many reloaders I know don’t reload cast bullets for rifles. Also the .30 cal is going to be great video.. I like them better than .223 as I save so much more than buying 30 cal FMJ bullets.

This small of a charge for the burn speed of the powder is going to give you very inconsistent results. The pressures are going to very greatly. Use a faster burn powder.

Stay at 50 yds with cast bullets until you find a good load. Keep at it man👍🏻🇺🇸

I just loaded up 10 rounds with the 19.5g charge. I'll try a 10 shot group and see it I get the same results.

I use 19.5 grains of CFE223 with my AR-15. Quarter size groups at 25 yards (Lee 6 cavity .224 diameter 55 grain bullets). Just a red-dot sight so I can't really say how it does at further distances

Oh my! What a big magizine you have Mister. And a pistol grip too? How does a guy do it?? Lol. Haha! You guessed it........ i live in NY where only outlaws and gangs are able to run that gear.

Yeah, I hear from a lot of NY viewers. I feel for you. They haven't took them yet, but they are trying very hard. I'm afraid after this election, it's not going to be good for us Illinois gun owners.

I’ll be riding your coattails on these videos, it’s gonna save me time 😂👍. That 19.5g load for the bolt gun looked good.👍. Think my jug of CFE223 is about empty might need another. Going to pickup some 3031 to try as well.

I just loaded up 10 with the 19.5g charge. We shall see if they get the same results.

What are your thoughts on the Axis II heavy barrel in 6.5? Kind of a combination of your two most popular bolt guns.
@243Outdoors6 жыл бұрын
I think it would be a good gun. The Axis II has the accutrigger, so that's a big benefit. I think the stock would be the only downfall.

@@243Outdoors Thanks for responding. That was my thought too. I suspect that if I sure it up like you did with the predator it will likely make some improvements.
@hemijeep16 жыл бұрын
@@243Outdoors I picked it up today, I guess we'll see how it does. Likely going to do a video series on it similar to what you did with yours. Want to see how well I can get an affordable rifle to shoot. Hopefully first range session with be tomorrow but we just got hit by a tornado so that may not happen.

Question, what was your alloy and the twist rate on your barrels?
@243Outdoors6 жыл бұрын
Wheel weights, I have no clue on hardness, and both are 1-9 twist. Axis is 22" and AR is 16"
@kaptkrunchfpv4 жыл бұрын
wheel weights usually hit 10 to 13, cold drench may help a little. You can add some lino type to it and end up with a very shootable bullet. I run about a 16 to 18 with gas checkons on my 556.

I was shooting 1/2" groups at 50 yards, with my reloads today. I was using 55g fmjbt, using 26.5 grains of cfe223 powder. Great load! That was one of the loads in my Nosler #8 reloading manual. I'm wondering why your powder load is so low? Where did you get this load?
@TheHonestlySneakyGamer4 жыл бұрын
cast bullets use a smaller load then fmj
@kaptkrunchfpv4 жыл бұрын
great info! I started out with 26 gr cfe with 55gr cast, was able to get it down to 20.5ish and still be reliable.
