The more I see, the more impressed I am with the .223. Such a light bullet, such an easy recoiling cartridge, lighter overall weight of cartridge and rifle, and it is not that far behind the .308 is these tests.

On cinderblocks, sure. But against anything living, it makes a world of difference. Just ask some Marines how the 5.56 round compares to the 7.62 x 39 in terms of knocking your adversary to the ground.

Good show sir. You know we addicts all want to see the comp between 300 Win Mag & 45\70. We have done similuar "tests" with 44 mag revolver & 243 using gallon jugs of water. We were surprised with results as youth in the 80s. The 243 dominated the 44.

It would be a great way for the companies to make piles of money by talking people into buying these rifles. Okay, maybe im an idiot... but I want a .308 for my first and probably only rifle. I'm not gun crazy. I just camp a lot in Wyoming and Montana. I want a DeserTech MDRX in either .300 BLK or another .308 AR-style rifle. Why or why no should I do this? I'm not taking any bs less than 5.56x45mm and other ammo grizzlies shrug off. Any advice?

I think I might prefer a 5.56 if I was on the move and on the offensive. But if I was defending a position I would rather have 5 or 6 guys with AR-10 pounding the lead. Could probably stop an incoming vehicle easy.

The .223 will take a couple of shots to break up the block, then get the watermelon. The .308 will bust the block with the first, maybe 2nd shot, then the watermelon will be juice. LOL. Good shooting. Didn't expect you to put one in the same hole. Didn't expect the .308 to get through both sides of the block either. I was expecting one shot to bust the block, then a clear second shot on the watermelon.
