The clanking might be from either the 2nd stage hydraulic jack or just poor maintenance.

I realize that being a parking garage would make any sounds including the hydraulic motor but it's still awfully loud. And of all the hydraulic elevators I've been on never heard one make all of those clunking/clanging sounds while inside it. What would cause that. BTW a brother of one of my dad's friends owned a condo that we stayed in while in FL one year and it was an 8 floor building with a hydraulic elevator.
