I kind of want to see a wind generator with 2 sets of blades in opposing rotation, and compare the performance of the scale up from the previous prototype, if it behaves as expected, or has problems with scale or material strength. It's visually stunning. But anticipate flying blades, have a remote engagable brake or something to release or apply at will from a safe distance, pull string or remote servo, etc.

this is more a thought for elegoo than you.. but since a lot of heat is lost from the bed to the atmophere.. and I wonder if instead of enclosing the whole thing (Still a large volume to heat) if it could have a 'top' that rises with the extruder, and maybe accordion sides that rise with the z axis. basically creating the smallest volume to heat and retain heat while adding neat zero mass for the printer to work with. would make bed heating faster and might work better with some materials like petg or abs. ;-) if you have contacts, please pass it on!

I've built myself a very large printer a few years ago.. First thing i see: is there a built plate you can take of? Use a printing surface? Something like a sheet of paper or plastic and clip it with decent clips onto the build plate.. if a print gets really stuck on the bed, you almost have to destroy the entire printer to get it of the (heated?) bed... I had a very thin piece of plywood with blue painters tape on it, so you can take the entire print out, and as the panel bends, it's easy to release the print from the plate..

@ThinkingandTinkeringАй бұрын

@mikeselectricstuffАй бұрын
That's a 16A C19 plug - not proprietory. I wonder if they used that as the heated bed pulls more than the 10A rating of a normal IEC - the European Schuko plug that was fitted is rated for 16A - if it's over 10A it could be marginal for a 13A socket .
@ThinkingandTinkeringАй бұрын
thank you mate - i didn't know that and that is good info - thanks for sharing - but a 16A rating is plenty it is double the draw - which is going to be at most 8A

For a mad scientist, I must say your home looks quite in order. My first experience with 3 D printing was about 32 years ago, set up a convention for 3D printing . I wS amazed at what they could do one made ball bearing races out of a ceramic material, printing a wax in the voids , tap it on the table the wax fell out turned to dust at room temperature. All the parts for a small block Chevy engine , now that was tempting 1/10 scale . As a modeler I could see a tiny dragster ...take care . In my years of setting up such things I learned to wire in many nationalities ...what's life without a challenge?

Hi Robert yes that was certainly a monster 3D printer the scale of it is enormous compared to most I've seen. The only thought I had is if you've got underfloor heating certain types might make the bed uneven during heating process.

I worry about temperature fluctuations next to the window because it's a large metal contraption with a thermal coefficient of expansion. People with large CNC machines put them in temperature controlled rooms. Anyway, these Chines made products designed for export to the US have to meet certain electrical standards, hence the breaker switch and heavy gauge wires.

One problem I can see with that printer. Its too open, bed adhesion or warping, could be problematic. Might be ugly, you could probably use the cardboard from boxes that it came in or get some plexiglass to put around it, to help regulate the temperature.
