This is what I love about the Forest of Dean. So much history, and so much to see, but not always the obvious, or the picturesque. I love those 'dialect blocks'! I am so glad that the Forest of Dean is relatively unspoilt and not overdevloped. Lets hope it remains so. Thank you for taking us around Cinderford Patrick. Take care, Paul

Yes I am fascinated with all the history of the Forest of Dean, and today there's more signage and sculptures around than before, so it's great to see it. Glad you enjoyed my Cinderford video Paul, many thanks for taking the time to watch. All the best 👍😀

Thanks for the very interesting and informative video Patrick . Takes me back many , many years when I spent summer holidays visiting relatives in Cinderford and the surrounding area . I can see my aunt's old house near the Nags Head pub on the edge of the Green where we used to play - flying kites , balsam wood airplanes races etc and walking to Lightmoor pond for a spot of fishing and exploring . A much simpler and innocent time . I could still recognize lots of places . Happy days . Thanks again !

I am so glad that you are revisiting the Forest of Dean because it is easier for us to get there when we stay in Cheltenham. Some of my childhood memories get triggered. Maybe I will give Cinderford another visit. We were there just before the lockdowns and it seemed rather sad and in need of some TLC at that time.

It's been lovely revisiting the Forest of Dean this year. I'm glad they created a town trail for Cinderford, as they have with many towns and cities now, as it highlights points of interest you'd normally miss 👍

What a beautiful place, Patrick. I can't believe that I grew up in Cheltenham and have never been to the Forest of Dean. The mural was beautiful on the side of the house, and I really loved that round house on the corner. Houses back then were built with character, not like the boxes they throw up these days. It is great that they have tributes to the free miners. What a nice memorial in the graveyard, too. You can't beat a beautiful English church. It's such a shame that due to thieves, most of them are locked. Sadly, most of the old stations closed. Was this another one that fell under the Beeching axe? Are there still some free miners left in the forest? You are right, it is lovely to get away on holiday and tread old paths, but it is lovely to return home too. A beautiful video, Patrick. I've really enjoyed your visit to your old stomping grounds. Were you able to meet old friends whilst you were down that neck of the woods? Thank you so much for taking us along and sharing this video. Have a great weekend, Patrick, whatever you are doing.

Thanks for watching Chris. I'm away again at the moment, but pleased you enjoyed this. It was a good short one to film on a rainy day but glad you found it of interest. There are certainly miners still Forest of Dean as far as I know, but not sure of they still call them freeminers today. The railway is a part of an old Forest tramroad for transporting coal, so I don't think Beeching would have been involved in this one. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to see old friends due to time, but I did combine this few days away with staying with family for a few days in Somerset. Hope your weekend is going well Chris, thanks again for taking the time to watch 👍

Great video, Patrick. The Primitive Methodist Chapel couldn't have be built in 1805, as Primitive Methodism originated at an open-air meeting at Mow cop in 1807. They eventually amalgamated with the main Methodist movement (The Methodist Union) in 1952. They named themselves 'Primtive',as they were trying to get back to the ethos of John Wesley,s original outdoor preaching-"Back To God,s Nature".

Many thanks Nick, glad you enjoyed it. Well I'm sure you're right about the chapel, but that's what the the Cinderford Town Trail guide says - link to it in video description. All the best 👍

Some lovely places in Cinderford. You even saw a great ball of fire. Shame the old mining industries have gone. They were the heart of these small communities. I take it that Dr Beechings proposals on the railways shut that particular station. Neve seen a police station that old either. I really enjoyed it and it's great that children made that route. It's helps them to learn to appreciate the area they live in. Cheers Patrick 😊

The great ball fo fire was good to see. It's good that there are plenty of memorials and tributes in Cinderford recogising the local history of the freeminers. Yes a good local route produced by the kids.Glad you enjoyed it Kelly, thanks as always for watching 👍

Cinderford looks to have som incredible buildings, Patrick. The Palace Cinema looks a real grand building, like you say one of the oldest purpose built cinemas still in existence in the country. The pictures of people on the side of the Picture House is amazing. The sculpture of the coal miner and the coal dram next to it are so interesting to see. It's another town that lost its passenger railway station, but it's good to see that there's some evidence of the railway being there at one time, as well as the old police station. A town walk on a damp day, Patrick, but most enjoyable to watch. Many thanks for this production.

It was great to have had the Cinderford Town Trail handy as it enabled me to find other things of interest in the town that I would have perhaps not normally noticed. This was a good short walk to film during the rainy day, so it all worked out pretty good in the end. Thanks Ffranc, all the best 👍

Hello Patrick. I have not heard of Cinderford before, but I liked the old Bristolian dialect in your film which is where I was brought up and familiar with (in Gloucestershire). I really liked your current musical arrangements. So effective and I much enjoyed the mood style.
