Sowcar janaki was an above average actor in her hey days. She used to act in films in just supporting roles unlike her contemporaries like Padmini Savithri, Sarojadevi, etc.. who donned primary roles as heroines in many films. Yet, her acting would move all of us in whatever roles she took on. Yet, she could never command charismatic appeal over the viewers like her aforestated contemporaries did. Yet, we should admire her for her courage & tenacity in building up her career & life, single handedly. At 88, she seems to be perfect in fine health. Wish her still many more years of life with the same fine health.

What an opportunity to see and hear dear legend Madam Sowcar Janaki. From my those childhood days when I first saw her in "Valaiyabathi" (1952?) with Muthukrishnan (songs : 'Kulir thamai malarinai kanndu...' 'Kuligidum poovillelam..') there isn't one movie where where I did not like her acting. Sowcar Janaki Mam is a very knowledgeable person with a beautiful intellectual qualities. Her English is fluent, eloquent and her command of the English language is awesome. Sowcar Janaki is a down to earth honest person and she is one of the very very few people in the Indian Film Industry who had set golden rules. May God bless her with long life.
