It was great meeting you briefly at NCHC! My oldest two are the same grades and I also have a preschooler and a 14 month old! So much character opportunities with the little ones. :)

When do you do read alouds with Ambleside? I love the idea of a Charlotte Mason homeschool but working for a mortgage company during normal business hours, I havent figured out how to fit in read alouds.
@KidsLearningforLife Жыл бұрын
I’m in the same boat, since I also work full time, in addition to homeschooling! I do read alouds in the evenings, usually after dinner. We also do a lot of the books in audiobook form in the car. These are the ways I’ve found it is easiest to get all of the books done on schedule. I hope this helps!

Thank you for this video! How much prepwork goes into ambleside online? And how much do i need to plan for and ourchase?
@KidsLearningforLife Жыл бұрын
I don’t find it prep-heavy on a day to day basis. We simply grab the books and start reading. Every year I go through a bit of planning, however, to make sure I have the books on hand. Basically all you need to buy are the books, so you can look at the booklist for your selected year(s) and see which books you need. I don’t supplement with any other materials or extra books outside of AO, unless I happen to already have stuff on hand that fits in. I hope this helps!

Brand new newborns are easier to homeschool with than those few month olds who are awake more and even getting mobile!! Take advantage of and enjoy your summer and fall and be prepared for a slow season as you get through that 6-12 month stage 😂 congratulations on the new baby and I appreciate your sharing your thoughts and plans 😊

You’re totally right. Homeschooling is harder now with a toddler than it was when she was young. Can’t wait for that sweet newborn phase. Thank you for the kind words!

I'm always a fan of curriculum review videos to get the update on what you love and hate moving forwards. Can I ask are you introducing any elective subjects like languages at all?
@KidsLearningforLife Жыл бұрын
We are doing Spanish very casually, but I haven’t developed a system that works perfectly for us yet.
@theculturedkidlanguages Жыл бұрын
@@KidsLearningforLife I totally understand that. It can be a really overwhelming subject to start if you're doing it on your own. If you're wanting to check out a 12 month curriculum, I'd be happy to chat about ways we could possibly collaborate?

Hello there! I will be a first time homeschooling mom this year, and I was wondering if the curriculum shown in this video can be used with a charter school?
@KidsLearningforLife Жыл бұрын
Hi! I homeschool through a charter school in California, and I use all of these curriculums and can use samples from them to meet my charter school's requirements. However, you might want to check with your charter school before using these, since every charter school has different policies. I probably wouldn't be able to use any of our work with AmblesideOnline as samples since the curriculum is Christian. I hope this helps!

@@KidsLearningforLife thank you so much for your reply! We’re enrolling at granite mountain charter in California, and I was hoping to use the good and the beautiful but since it’s religious the HST told me I couldnt use it as my main curriculum, so I’m looking for different curriculum.

Curious of u guys will be doing Tales of Shakespeare by Lamb. Its a continuation from Y1.
@KidsLearningforLife Жыл бұрын
Good question! Yes, we will continue with Shakespeare by using Tales of Shakespeare. I haven’t quite chosen which plays we’ll be doing yet though.
@TheGLOSSette Жыл бұрын
@@KidsLearningforLife u feel like the scheduled ones are good? We're kinda doing Y1 (long story short) but not gonna start Shakespeare till the fall.
@KidsLearningforLife Жыл бұрын
I don’t follow the AO schedule for Shakespeare. I feel like some of the tragedies are introduced a bit early for my liking. We have mostly stuck to the comedies and we’ve done just a couple tragedies that I know aren’t too dark.

The last video I've seen you did about math was about a year ago when you did primary math also. Which math have you been doing in between?
@KidsLearningforLife Жыл бұрын
We used a math curriculum called Math Enhancement Programme (aka MEP). It’s free and available online. It was just a bit too complicated for us to use and I find Primary Mathematics is more clear and open-and-go.

Putting words on the screen or pictures of the books you don’t have on hand or online resources you talk about would really help.

I also will be having a baby. When are you due? Do you only use AO schedule for history?
@KidsLearningforLife Жыл бұрын
Congratulations! I’m due in early August. I use AO primarily for history, literature, and geography, but I have also used it as a guideline for Bible study, Shakespeare, composer study, and artist study.
