Do you use any Charlotte Mason "strategies" in your homeschool? What are they and how do they work for you?

I loved your breakdown of the Charlotte Mason method. Especially how you included habit training! We've been working on manners lately. How they answer the door and I've been having them practice answering my phone when it rings. I totally forgot this was even part of her method until you mentioned it!

Yes, it's great for my kids who would just struggle with rigor.

Thank you for watching! This is such a great style of homeschooling and there is so much that we can learn from Charlotte Mason. I know that I am looking forward to using your Language Lessons for the Elementary Child Vol. 1 with my boys as soon as we have finished out our current curriculum!

I absolutely love your video on this homeschooling method...by far the best I've seen! I love Charlotte Mason!

Wow! Thank you so much! I wanted to do a good job at explaining it as thoroughly as possible without taking forever! Lol. I had a 2x the length version that I couldn’t cut down, so I had to re-record 😬

Fantastic, in-depth video on this style! I incorporate a few elements of this style, but some aren't a good fit for our family. Narration is a very powerful way to demonstrate learning!

Thank you! And thanks for your input on narration. I'm still pretty new at all this, but it is amazing how far my kids have come with the narration. It's not something I would have ever thought to do on my own, and it takes work to implement it fully (which I am still working on), but it's totally worth it when you see when I see the changes in my children's abilities!

This is such a thorough video on the Charlotte Mason method. Great job! I love this method. I'm an eclectic homeschooler as well, and what I have implemented from this method is reading living books, short lessons, and being outside and doing nature study.

I love how you've explained the CM method. It is more explanatory in simple ways than other videos I've watched and super helpful to understand better!

Awe... thank you! I've not been doing it long, but have been studying up since I started homeschooling, so I was hoping I got the gist of it (in a simple, beginning level) :)

@@CalmintheChaosHomeschool I've decided to change things up so I'm trying to get information on other methods so I really appreciate the simple explanations! How is your family enjoying this method so far?

I totally agree with her philosophy and many of her methods. We have adapted it to suit our family. So, we use as many living books as possible, narration quite a bit, short and varied lessons, nature walks, etc in our homeschool. So, we do every lesson in about 20 mins or less, we rotate through lots of resources, I try to alternate the part of the brain we are using in each lesson, and I will make my kids narrate to me 1-2 times a day. Where we are not as CM is, we like to read even more books than she would probably recommend, we do gravitate more to modern literature (we do include classics too, but not all the time), I do use workbooks here and there. So, I would call us an Charlotte Mason-inspired, eclectic homeschool. I use the resources I feel will work best with my family, generally in a CM way :)

We used Charlotte Mason for about one semester... I love the approach, but it wasn’t a good fit for our family. BUT, we did keep some CM methods, specifically the living books, narration, and copywork. We love reading many good books to learn about just about everything! And for my kids, I guess narration comes a bit natural to them... when my boys were screened for adhd, the evaluator noted that they both scored above average for narration ♥️

Thank you so much for making this video. Our little one is still under 2 and we are about to have our second but I have been processing and so curious about this method of homeschooling! Instead of trying to replicate what is done in public schools or blindly try and attempt with random curriculum I find. I really appreciate the clear explanation! So excited to learn more.
