When Owen was sober he had a good heart and had turned over a new leaf while in prison he realised how he did wrong before and turned his life around, he knew what type of a man Lucas was when he had a scuffle with him, Owen said because I've been you, Owen found God aswell and he was serious about it not like Lucas who was twisted, Owen wanted what was best for Denise and wanted to protect her he didn't want Lucas to do what Owen himself did so he wanted to save her from a huge mistake.
