I’m a street performer (fingerstyle guitar and ukulele) and the highlight of my year is easy - So....as I’m playing one day a little boy of maybe 6 or 7 sits down on the ground right in front of me to watch me play with a smile on his face. As I glance up, a lady who turned out to be his mum had a look of surprise on her face and I didn’t know why. When I finished, she explained that her son is autistic and had been agitated all morning, banging his head on walls and generally getting upset and as they drew close and he heard the music he calmed down. While I played, he was ok. The knowledge that something I did brought comfort or relief to him was just amazing to me and that’s a moment which hasn’t been surpassed yet for me.

Clearly this was another relaxed, moving, heartfelt and sincere evening spent with great friends who happen to be extremely talented musicians. Thank you all for allowing us to eavesdrop for a little while on your collaboration. I have been playing ukulele for about six years now and it's really helping me to enjoy retirement! Early in the year I purchased a Flight Carabao (Tenor scale) which I love.....this brought my collection - which includes a banjolele too! - up to 7 and my wife has just given me for Christmas my first baritone ukulele....So I'm almost starting over again! Thank you for all you do to inspire players and enthusiasts all over the world! I hope that 2024 will be a year filled with happiness and success for you all.

Wow Andrew, how far you have come from the flea market. I wonder way back then if you could have imagined that you would go down in the history books. You and your amazing team have changed the way we enjoy, learn about, and acquire musical instruments. Each and every one of us are blessed by the dedication and curiosity of these wonderful musical instruments you share with us each week. I love all of you and everything you do. Wow and the good fortune you have all bestowed upon the residents of Maui. Mahalo❤ p.s. Brother Israel is smiling upon all of you.

Hi Folks, First, a wish for you all that you have a 2024 better than 2023, full of peace and good health. I look forward to your podcast every week, and I am never disappointed and always learn something. The big thing I got from you guys this year was hand position. I was watching one week, and sat up and realized that hand positions were changing all over the place. One minute Kalei's elbow is up, and the next it's down, Corey's fingers are facing the strings differently for every chord. Now, I know I'm reinventing the wheel here, but I don't take lessons or even know anybody else who plays fingerstyle, so that's a big deal. I have my three ukuleles and for the time being, that's going to be it for me, two of them from from you. One was a local purchase from a guy who never played it, an Opio he says he got from you. So thanks for all the music and all the ukes. I love hearing and seeing the ones I can't possibly afford. But mostly I am just happy to hear you guys play. Guests, no guests, regulars, builders, it's all interesting, but it's you who keep us all coming back. So have a wonderful new year, all of you, and a big mahalo.

Happy new year to my favorite podcast team. You’ve inspired me in so many ways on my ukulele journey. This year your inspiration made me realize that I don’t have to play as well as Corey and Kalei to let go and allow the pure joy of playing ukulele to come through. I was able to save and buy a custom PCH ukulele from Phil Henderson. That uke is a perfect complement to the Anuenue tenor I bought from TUS the year before. Keep spreading Aloha 🤗🥰.

You guys are an inspiration, who I aspire to be as a great player! Thank you TUS for a wonderful year of podcasts. Inspirational as always, musical highlights for me was being able to share with others. Corey, you should have Sarah and Craig share their stretches and warm up routines, best thing I have learnt this year. My largest inspiration this year was your friends and community coming together for Maui and the time and raising of monies for those in need, won’t get over the sheer humanity at its best. Wishing you and your loved ones a happy and prosperous New Year, can’t wait to hear the recording🤘 and more beautiful instruments played, recorded and shared in 2024.

After dabbling with the ukulele for a couple of years, I was in search of inspiration on how to be a better player. This is when I stumbled on these videos/podcasts. And WOW! I had no idea how musically diverse this precious instrument is. Now I'm going back to theory fundamentals, scales, and alternate chords. I'm having so much fun searching for my style (not sure what it is yet). Thank you all for opening my ears to the possibilities.

Mahalo for all the great jams and music talk and wonderful ukes and Hawaii aloha spirit of the last year+! I spent the last year in Indonesia, where I gave away 7 of my ukes in Ambon (the City of Music) to the amazing uke organizers there who have put thousands of donated ukes into the hands of public school kids. I advise a visit to Ambon to all ukers. The kids are amazing. Most schools have uke groups and play dozens of songs on ukes in addition to playing native instruments. In Indonesia, I also had Pelem Ukulele construct two amazing instruments for me-- a solid mango pineapple concert and a long neck soprano jackfruit uke. They play like magic. A final note: I flew back to Tucson on the 31st. In the airport I always find a quiet corner and play uke. A man behind me I didn't see in a wheelchair told me that I was really ripping on the uke and thanked me for sharing my music. A great way to end the year.

My ukulele year was great. I learned several new songs, with something of a breakthrough in the crossover between ukulele and guitar. At the end of the year I took a 7-week vacation to visit family in Hawai'i and Japan during which I got to play a LOT of ukulele. Maybe too much, if that is possible as I got some hand tendonitis, so I totally relate to what Corey is experiencing.

Musically 2023 had its ups and downs. I suffered a great loss personally, which made me sad and made me not want to play much. But I also had a couple of impromptu performances, one at Nico's, which was pretty awesome for me as an amateur ukulele player / singer. 2024 I want to improve on my fingerstyle and attempt more challenging arrangements.
