Actually, it makes perfect sense. Ryu, as cool as he is, has no other objective that being a "better Warrior" and always "looking for another Challenge". The logical step is a soldier as the leader of a fighting force. Chun-Li was also suitable for the leading role, being an Interpol operative.

I remember watching this show during summer breaks on USA on the morning cartoon lineup. They had this. Savage Dragon. And the Mortal Kombat cartoons. I mean, they got as far as looking like the characters in dress and moves. But they were all weird shows where the characters were like spies and stuff lol. Just weird stuff- but hey, as a kid, you don't care. You're just seeing these video games as cartoons. And everything is good. I guess the writers need to have a reason to keep them going on adventures and stuff. One thing I WILL say is that this episode is proof that the creators are fans of the capcom original games because the detail in the characters. I'm not talking about like Rolento, and Belger, and Cody and Guy and stuff. I'm talking about the plain old henchmen that COULD have just been generic background characters. But no, they have the look of the game's NPC henchmen. They had the knife guy and everything lol.

It was pretty awesome too. Since we technically had 2 different interpretations of the Street Fighter 2 series. 1 in U.S. and 1 in Japan. Both completely different in story, plot and art work. But I thought both were really cool. I liked the U.S. version since they introduced pretty much all the characters at that time. But in Street Fighter 2 V, the story and dialogue was great and art work. But not all the characters were introduced and represented.

Street fighter can only be good in manga anime art. The American style the characters look very very soft. The should make a few more street fighter mamga anime movies such as street fighter 2 in 1996.
