Hi from France, i got stuck in Australia a few years ago whilst visiting my brother who lives in South Australia,i ended up driving a quad dog during harvest,i really enjoyed it,took me a while to get used to that 13 speed roadranger,as all the gear here is automatic,but got there in the end.

l believe the A-doubles have a shorter A- frame or draw bar to drive in the cities like sydney

Sort of, an A double is technically any 2 trailer combination (usually with a dolly) up to 36.5 m. So a standard road train is also an A double. The main difference is, a combination up to 30m, runs with long vehicle signs and can access a larger network of roads (like in cities like you say) than 30 - 36.5 m combinations, which are required to have road train signs displayed on a different network 👌🏼 The type of Trailers and what you are carting is also a factor

How long did that take you to load Tone? Seems a slow process….

It's pretty quick once everything is set up. Usually only about 20 to 25 minutes And it's loaded

Hey mate great channel. Any advice in a couple of sentences for a Sydney tradie wanting to get into some casual driving jobs maybe night work? What type of driving and is $50 p/h and up realistic? I'm making over $120 p/h, but weather and client dependent. Holidays and times of year plus recovery is a big time looser with this business. Win me over mate? It still seems like it's a better deal doing what I do and just trying to fit in more little jobs close to home that are hard on the body but you come out with like $500 for a few hrs work. But i'm open to working for less.

G'day mate! To be honest, if you are looking to scale back your hours, truck driving may not be the job for you 😆 Yeah $50 an hour is obtainable with different types of jobs. Depends on the license class you have as well though . over a weekend there are plenty of companies you could do Tarcutta changeovers, or just changeovers in general. But all of that Work would be single or b double Work. If you are looking for local rigid work, you would probably be pushing to get $50 an hour unless you were doing night work but it also depends on your level of experience. Then obviously there's interstate work, which is quite good money, that you'll be doing 14 hour days 5 to 6 days a week

@@TonesTruckinStories all good mate thanks for taking the time to reply and has given me some ideas. Yeah can sort of get enough work, but windows to do it are some what of a small issue. So having something else on the side (weekends and night) sounds about right. Owner operator might be an option as I have a use for a truck in what I do but anything really over 11t gvm is just too big for around here. It sounds like you need a bogie to do changeover type of work anyway. Too big and expensive. Man trucks are expensive now! I remember how cheap they were before covid🙄
