Jeff Sohl is probably best known by students for advising and teaching the Rines Angel Fund. But did you also know he loves gardening? 🌹
The Professor of Entrepreneurship and Decision Sciences and Director of the Center for Venture Research recently answered 23 questions to help us uncover some unexpected things about him. Jeff shared that he:
❄️ Would love to visit Antarctica
🏀 Once coached his son's basketball team
🦨 Can help you carefully relocate skunks (but would prefer not to)
🪨 Knows how to split really big rocks by hand
👨🏼🏫 Was not built for second grade teaching
🍍 Doesn't want pineapple on his pizza
Obviously Jeff loves to do research - you don't get to be the Director of a research center without passion for it - and one of the most important skills he's developed over his career is how to produce high-quality research efficiently. But one of the things he says he's most proud of in his career is the Rines Angel Fund and the impact it's made on Paul students.
He usually goes to the gym in the middle of the day to break up the workday. If he had to pick a superpower it'd definitely be flying - you wouldn't have to walk anywhere or get into airplanes. You'd be free.
Jeff's best advice to teenagers: try to find both what you really like and what you can make a living at - it makes for a great career.
Is there anything he wishes he had done differently when he was first starting out? Maybe. Probably. At some point in his life he might have had an answer. But he's forgotten all those things by now. All he knows is he likes where he ended up.
