"A town of 1,500 people?" Im sure that the wildfire situation was terrible, but, once that was over, how much work could there possibly be for a town of 1500 people? Is it even a Full-time position? Better that she steps down and let's someone else step up to handle things.

It's not a ft job. I live in a town of 13,000 and the mayor and councilors work 2 or 3 nights a week. They all have ft jobs elsewhere. They keep costs low and taxes low. We haven't had a property tax increase in the last 7 years. They are the best.

Here’s a suggestion, rather than de-stigmatizing “giving up” we de-stigmatize what it means to be a politician. We need to be kinder and more humane to our governors rather than destroy and publicly humiliate them and their families. However, signing up to do the job means you know what your getting into and you accept the challenge and see it through. At 23 there’s no way she had the experience, knowledge or wisdom to have stepped into that role.

I respect her decision to step down. It is honourable to swallow your pride when you know that you can't bring your best or hold yourself to the promises you made to those who voted you in. On the flip side though it is kind of crazy that you could be "burnt out" at 23 years old.

this is more of a statemen on gen Z than it is on politics. i think part of it is that housing has gotten so out of control particularly the last eight years.... that gen z and some gen Y have just given up. it's disheartening to see this how terrible it's been in canada lately and what it's doing to our younger generation.

“Sense of boundaries.” You mean sense of laziness. This panel is one of the issues. People like this enable weakness, incompetence and selfishness. Finally, it doesn’t take courage to quit.

A lot of stress working for a public corporation in Canada. What stress when a Canadian city has a problem, they just raise taxes.

This 23 y/o Mayor handled the wildfires in her part of Quebec and served her people. I respect that, no matter her age. Jacinda Arden, PM of Zealand, who I deeply admire also served her country during COVID and she faced burnout. Maybe male politicians stay in their roles *too long* (eg. John Tory). Maybe term limits would be a healthy solution in all political roles.
